Here is a coin (1832 Capped Bust dime) that I have graded as VG (very good).

Obverse -
While much of the detail has been worn, the major structures, e.g., liberty profile, stars, date,
are easily identified and complete.
Many of the letters, if not all, of the word "liberty" in the head band are readable.
Coin denticles may be worn. (this type has small denticles)
Wearing is even, but heavy.

Reverse-
While much of the detail has been worn, the major structures, e.g., eagle, shield, ribbon, branches,
are easily identified and complete.
The motto "E Pluribus Unum" is weak, but many, if not all, of the letters are readable.
Coin edge may be worn.
Wearing is even, but heavy.

Also, for comparison, is an ANACS graded coin.  (At the lower grades, many times I must use a different year as there are fewer professional gradings at the year in question.)
