Unusual pattern on 1954 Benjamin Franklin 1 1

I don’t think I have ever seen an MS64 FBL with an obvious “V” on the obverse. It is very unusual. Can anyone take a guess what happened here? Planchette inconsistency or dent before striking? No sign of it on the reverse, but at an angle appears to go all the way across the obverse.

My bet is just an unusual toning pattern, but with the coin in the plastic I cannot tell from these photos if there is any raised or incuse metal on the coin.

It does appear incuse. The NGC photo shows it too. I just have never seen anything like that before. I would not crack it, but it sure make me wonder.
