I found this 1955 nickel and it look to me to possibly be a Omm....

So I'm posting it here for a 2nd opinion

Brad I’m not smelling what you’re stepping in. There is no evidence of an O mint mark, just a 55 D I’m sorry to say. Welcome to the forum sir.

The New Orleans Mint (French: Monnaie de La Nouvelle-Orléans) operated in New Orleans, Louisiana, as a branch mint of the United States Mint from 1838 to 1861 and from 1879 to 1909.

Brad, have you matched your coin to one of the 12 OMM's listed on Variety Vista?  OMM-11   Your closeup photo is too dark to see much and the well lit photo too far away.   From what I can see you might have a match for OMM-11, but I just cannot tell for sure from your photos.

He didn't say he thought it was an "O" mint mark. He thought it might be a "D" over "S". "Omm" means "over mint mark." Normally all of the letters are capitalized to avoid confusion. See Coinbuf's post above.

@Just Bob  I don't wish to argue but the way the OP wrote the comment I thought he meant O over mint mark also.   No harm no foul.

Even so It is a good find they are not worth a lot unless it is in MS condition. I found one a few months back. It is worth at least a Nickel that much I am sure of.
