Want To File A Complaint Pertaining To The ASE 25th Order Process The Number is...

12 posts in this topic

If you want to know if you is on the wait list and the number to file a complaint read below.

For those who do not know if their orders are on a wait list or not here is the answer. If you order was taken after 5pm then you are on the wait list. I just confirmed this with a order taker at the US Mint web site. She also told me that people have been calling in mad that their order(s) have been cancelled. It will take sometime for the Mint to catch up with the orders. It is safe to say if you ordered before 4:40 PM EST then you are okay. Now I asked her if the Mint will increase the limit because of the trouble people had getting in and the answer was that is the rumor going around. But her experience is that when the Mint set a limit it is set.

So keep your fingers cross. Oh yes for those flippers on Ebay a lot of them have been taken down by Ebay only to be replaced by others.

If you are mad about the ASE troubles here is a the direct number to the US Mint Catalog Coin complaint department 202-354-6675. And here is the direct number to the US Mint. United States Mint telephone hours: Weekdays 9:00am to 5:30pm EST, except holidays.

Telephone: (202) 756-6468

Fax: (202) 756-6200

You can file all the complains you want.. they wont take action. I remember when the Bald Eagle coins were released. The wife really wanted them and she tried for 3 hours to get them. This was back in 2008. Well after that experience, people got their torches and pitchforks.. lets fast forward to 2011.. same problems. No action was taken to improve the ordering process.

Its like not getting tickets to Pink Floyd.. you just have to drive on..

As for the Ebay gougers, they are vermin!

What do you recommend to fix it?

Limit 1 per household? The dealers will do just like many on here have said they did and get their friends and family to order on their behalf (I bet there are dozens of members here with more than 5 sets on the way). May take a little more coordination but I have a feeling the end result would be the same.

Upgrade to the website? I think all this would do is have them sell out in 30 minutes rather than 5 hours.

Increase the mintage? To how many? Unlimited so anyone can order them without worry of being sold out would only cause demand to decrease, maybe to a point that it would take quite a while to sell the first 100k sets. It's the simple supply/demand principle why everyone even wants these in the first place, if you make them easy to get why would anybody want them?

My point is that I don't see anything that mint could do to change the outcome and I am glad they put out something with such a limited mintage.

I am not the kind to complain. I could complain to the lottery that I dont win, or to the casino. I could complain to the news station that the weatherman cant predict the weather right. In the funny thing called life,u have to take the good with the bad. I am glad that the limit was 5. ... 10 would have been too quick of a sellout ...1 is defently too low. Some ppl bought only 1 and that is ok... Some ppl bought 3.. I really think 5 was a good number !

Seriously? You think 100,000 is a "limited mintage"?? Not to mention these are just bullion coins. I suspect the hype will fizzle and come back to reality within 6-8 months. In the meantime, all of the "collectors" will have to wait patiently for their 5 sets, and hope they can "flip" the 4 extras...

This whole process and fiasco is pathetic. Not to mention that this topic has overtaken every Numismatic/coin chat board there is...sigh. Thank you U.S. Mint for another well marketed but poorly executed frenzy....

While I did not like the problems with the website I think many of us knew this was going to be the case so why complain about it? Like many other public figure/ company/ government will never get it right in the eyes of some people because people only want to complain and see the negative side to everything.

If the limit was set at 500,000 people would say that was too high. If the limit per household was 1 people would complain, if it was 10 other people would complain. The number one complaint is that the website is slow. 99.9% of the time it works fine. If they were to spend the money to upgrade you would have a huge group complaining about unnecessary government spending. Everyone is complaining about companies having there friend and family order for them. Guess what? You can do the same. Just because they are a company does not give them some type of special skill in clicking a few button's online to place an order.

Everyone knew well ahead of time there was a limit of 100,000 with 5 per household could mean only 20,000 orders. For those of you complaining did you really expect it not to sale out? Did you expect it not to be busy?

A post giving a number to complain about the mint being slow, smart move. Lets jam up there phone system as well and slow them down more. If enough of use call maybe there will be a delay in the ship date and we can all call back and complain about that too.

RANT OVER !!!

I bought 2 at around 3pm est..got my confirmation number and they are backordered ( which simply means that I will receive them, they just are not the "early releases" that are already assembled)

I am 99% sure that I'll get my 2 sets since I've been backordered many times and always got my sets--just several weeks later. Since I have no plans to slab them or any interest in special labels, I don't mind the wait. They just sit in my safe with my 3 1995W's and my 5 2010 proofs ( thought those might be scarce because of the late release). I never did get around to finding the 3 coin millenium set.

Oh by the way, some of you are gonna hate this but.......it took me about 4-5 minutes to order them. I logged in, clicked on the store, entered "2" for number of items, added them to my cart and checked out.......it literally took 3-4 minutes total after confirming my address and billing info. Maybe I was just lucky?

Limited for the series yes, only the 95W had a lesser mintage.

Limited for demand yes, sold out as quickly as the mint could handle processing orders.

If you want to say they were not "limited" because of the 100k number then that is your opinion. My opinion is that they are VERY limited because demand outsripped supply by several multiples. Maybe you think the first spouse series is more limited because their numbers mintages are restricted at 15k? Is it really limited though if you can go buy one any time you feel the urge? Demand doesn't even come close to the mintage limitations for the first spouse series so while they are "limited", that limit is never reached because there is no demand. You can actually go on eBay right now and pick up some of these limited editions cheaper than the mint sells them.

You may be right about the secondary market prices, it's a gamble for those who will try to flip. I said the same thing about the hockey pucks "inflated prices...just bullion...prices will settle" and I think for the most part they have been. I think if we compare this set with the 2006 set these will remain in demand for some time.

I understand your frustation but as they say "don't hate the player, hate the game". If you can't stand seeing all the posts about it then maybe you need to step back and take a break. In my opinion the mint did a stellar job with these and continues to do a stellar job at marketing in the last several years and this release is no example...it has created buzz and likely will bring more people into collecting.

Jackson, I think its great you got your sets in a timely manner. Whenever anyone has the experience everyone should have its a good thing. I got my set after one hour of trying and yelling at my computer as if it was the fault of my computer. Now I sit here two days after the fact happy I got my one set. However, I stand by my earlier post because no matter how you perceive it, things could have been handled better at the mint. Of course hind sight is always 20-20. My hope is that the US Mint will learn from this experience and past experiences to improve its processes in the future.

On another note, when I get my set I'm not sure whether I'll get it graded or not. I will have time to decide. One thing in favor of grading is NGC is offering to send back the packaging and this is important to me. Another thing that tilts me towards grading is that I have this years "5-coin" renewal coupon left to spend. On the other side of the coin (no pun intended) those eagles sure look nice side by side in their box.

Oh well, I said my piece and hopefully this is my last word on this issue. Now back to working and writing on my sets

Really, you want to call the Mint and complain? We all knew when the sale began, the limited production, and the order limit. Then what, you somehow didn't succeed in your purchase and you are mad?

Sour grapes make sour whine...
