I have a few more images to post - but here are two coins

Mike, every time you post to your Mom's birthyear set, I think of my Mom. She was born on January 2, 1921. I wish that I had done something like this while she was still alive.

Thanks for posting it.

Chris

I LOVE that Walker!! I am looking for a coin JUST LIKE that one!!!! (worship) A nice one like that sold on Ebay not long ago for around 7500. I missed out on it. Maybe the same coin?

I think it is WONDERFUL what you are doing to honor your Mom. My Gram was born in 1922 and my Grampa in 1919.

Oh my gosh, why is that Walker only a 63? Can we see bigger pics? Fantastic key date example of the lowest mintage issue in the entire series!

I guess I could play around with it - sending it to Photobucket and then

pasting it here. I had the photographer send me images that would only

fit here at NGC ...

I also have OBV & REV image by themselves.

BTW - the two coins came from Heritage's ANA auctions

- the Buffao was sold in lot # 3446 - and the Half was in the

Platinum sale - lot # 7233. I have no idea where the coins

were before I bought them.

If this isn't large enough - I'll continue to play...

I think this is as large as it gets... lol

Ah, yes, much better. Worthy images of a worthy coin. Unless there are problems I'm not seeing, I really think that is a 64. Beautiful coin.

Some knocks on the head, right field, and wing. I still think it should go NO LESS than a 63+

The highest being a borderline gem.

Yeah, but I wanna see his 21-S Buffalo with bulls eye toning! :baiting:

So do I - I'm getting my 1921-S in PCGS 64 at the end of the month.

Light golden toning - not exactly Bulls Eye Toning - but considering

that my last 21-S was in an original ANACS cachet - in MS 64 - and

it was the Two Feather Variety to boot - but - PCGS wouldn't cross it

because of "altered surfaces" - It was an original coin - but "I'm no expert".

I'll post the image as soon as I get the coin in hand !

The 21-S is a tough coin in any grade. But ya add bulls eye toning and your talking about a coin I would love to own. I've been looking for a nice one.

Noow-- this is the most discerning things that I have EVER heard you say. lol I MOSTLY agree with you. That head is VERY full but there are no 'knocks' or other abrasions on that head. That is just the way it was sculpted and contoured. The skirts are strong and the thumb is VERY sharp. I'm guessing that it graded MS 63 due to the abrasions above the motto on the obv. and wing tips on the reverse and also the chatter on the center skirt lines on the obverse . The luster appears to be pretty good, especially on the left facing obv. field for a MS 63 and, most especially, for a KEY date like that one! Keys like these are commonly dipped out.

Mike--That is a VERY HIGH END, PQ MS 63 and would look great in ANYONE"S collection! You should be VERY proud of it; I know that I would! Proud of the coin and proud of what it represents! I know that you are. :) Congrats!!

The last one I saw (literally) was at the pre-ANA show in Anaheim in...1995! Dave Swietz had one....WAY TOO much for me back then. I'm sure there have been some since but I haven't seen it....

Still waiting to shoot your 1921 $20 Saint. ;)

And waiting and waiting and waiting....

Talk about a "murder's row" of better dates. I'm pretty sure I'd have to sell my house to pick up just a few of the coins let alone the whole set from that year.

John,

Come to Naples - and we'll go to my bank and you can shoot it there.

I mentioned that my Mom bought one in 1958 in Antwerp, Belgium

and had a bezel put around it. She [ and I at that time ] had absolutely

no inkling of its rarity. All she knew was she had a gold coin from her

birthyear. The coin is loaded with ticks and at best would grade VF 30

or so as it had quite a bit of wear when she bought it.

Whoa...I didn't know you owned one...maybe you mentioned it...I don't remember. I mean, there are what, two dozen or so in existence? Wow...

Did the bezel damage it, or is it still gradeable?

It would only get a Genuine [ I hope ] grade.

Its got what they call jewelry bag marks.

Its suffered a death of a thousand cuts.

The rim is slightly marked up as well; the

bezel is still attached and I have no desire

to take it off - and its on a very heavy gold

chain.

She also had a few other gold coins in bezels

and one in particular is a 1912 Five Dollar that

is surrounded in flat beveled cut rubies and then

all of that is encased in a filigreed outer bezel.

That coin fared a little better as she was afraid that

one of the rubies might fall out if she over wore it.

I was quite mistaken........I got my dates mixed up. The 1921 PCGS MS 63 coin that I saw on Ebay was a PHILADELPHIA coin NOT a DENVER coin like yours!

The 1921-S Buffalo Nickel arrived today.

I guess I could post my horrible images ...

but they are B.A.D.

The coin's images will be redone soon - promise !!

I also have to remember how to position a coin when I'm imaging it !!
