Honestly, if this Bust, Small Eagle AU Dollar was yours. . .

It's already in an NCS slab, so it might not be possible to curate it. Or if it is conserved, it might leave something really ugly behind. I wouldn't necessarily assume that the seller is just too cheap or lazy to fix it, especially when we are talking about such a high dollar coin.

I think it looks pretty nice as is and who knows what it might look like after the fact? Artificial color is almost always there for a "good" reason, and frequently that reason is to cover up another problem .

Good points, all. I thought there might be a way NCS could rid the coin of the AT and still leave (somewhat) natural surfaces- enough at least to get it into an NGC holder.

If so, it's a super big coin. Remaining in the AT NCS problem net holder only makes it a semi-big coin, IMHO.

Could be a several thousand dollar difference.

Barring a large unnoted problem, I suspect this coin will be in a legit TPG slab in a matter of months. I suspect the blue toning is too vibrant in person and that someone will darken it up and get it slabbed.

If I were to sink my money into that coin it would be with the idea to strip off the peacock blue and replace it with a more uniform and deeper grey and auburn mix with darker tints near the rims.

I agree with Greg. Assuming it isn't hairlined to death underneath that patina, this coin will definitely get into a "no problem" slab at some point.

If it were my coin, I wouldn't have it curated, because then it might end up being pasty white, and I can't stand a pasty white bust coin.
