  1. I can barely make out a possible outline, at about the proper distance. I need to invest in a better camera myself. My iphone is not cutting it. While simply taking an image of the obverse\reverse may be acceptable, the die variety clues are difficult to pick up and I end up having to experiment with lighting and magnification, much less keeping my hands still and I can spend 30 minutes on an image.
  2. Pretty! The fact that it is a blue mark would seem to indicate that it is not a mint error. Someone should not have worn that blue knit sweater.
  3. I see what could be a shadow of the extra "V". Congratulations if it truly is one The NGC Census shows that, as of August 2023, there are 37 certified examples, including four tied for highest graded at NGC MS 68. There are currently 168 specimens for sale on ebay (According to the NGC variety census, for which I do not know how the algorithm works).. Prices vary. More dramatic the higher the grading, of course.

  5. My initial thought of possible die variety was that I saw what could be repunch markers. Reviewing as much as I could from the images, I could not find any signs of a die variety. Here is an MS67 example by PCGS for comparison.
  6. There may be a die variety and there are quite a few (a die variety is a minted coin with an abnormal or unusual die condition). The coin is in very good condition overall, from the images, right off hand, I would give it a detail grade of AU, with the highest AU market value of about $60. Again, there may be a die consideration, which would make a difference, much less could make it more collectable overall, and with that in mind, it may be worthwhile to submit it as there are numerous conditions. https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/united-states/dollars/49/varieties/17264/
  7. FIrst of all, the only rules presented in the initial post are date or denomination&type. There is no "any type, if...", much less, your claim to "any type, if early enough" would be entirely open to interpretation. There have been bust to seated to bust coins posted. These failures render this thread an affront to logic, attention and capability. The latest deviation is the 1797 half penny, that follows an 1811 half penny, that follows an 1835 half penny. I repeat my mantra, "Either everyone follows the rules, or the rules are meaningless". From now on, I will simply assume that many posters do not have the ability, or are simply too lazy, to determine the proper series of coin that should be posted.
