    Never say never...
I told myself I would never "buy" a coin, at least not for more than face value anyway. I would only collect those that I found or was given. (Thank you to all of you who have been so giving. I really, really am thankful to have such generous and thoughtful friends.) That notion held true until I walked into a coin shop. I went in to get some 2x2s (I know there are a few of you probably clapping right now ) and came out with several coins as well. 🤦🏼‍♀️
And one of the most disturbing things about it was that I couldn't wait to go back. So, very soon after my first trip, came another. I was definitely greeted with a big smile my second trip and the third trip was just as fulfilling. 🤣 Anyway, so I never did post any of them. I'll not even try to post them all, just a couple of my favorites. None are even remotely as fancy as what is normally posted here, but I don't care. I like them and that's all that matters. 😉
Pennies, especially the deep brown ones, are my favorite, but I just get what I like, whatever it may be, at that particular moment. (I'll make a different thread for each)

Lollipops were invented in 1908, and the name wasn't trademarked until 1931. I have a feeling Franklin was dead long before then.

There is no such thing as a 'trivial' question.  Every question has it's own level of importance so just keep asking.

Well, I don't know if I ever REALLY  had that much faith in what they said and I certainly never gave them money, but they knew a lot more than I did. I did hear contradicting statements sometimes which led me to be more aware, but hey... everybody makes mistakes, right?
I was sheltered from social media so I truly did not know anything about it at all. I had to make my own YouTube channel several years ago to only share a few videos, that to my knowledge, couldn't have been shared any other way. I was not deceitful in my videos, nor am I in everyday life, so I was just an unsuspecting guinea pig, so to speak. I did realize immediately when I found this forum, that the knowledge and maturity of the people here far superceded anything I'd encountered previously, so in turn, I put my faith in what everyone here has told me since the first question I asked. I have not watched any type of coin guru on there since, and don't plan to again.
I have never been a computer person at all, so an editing function... What is that? Lol. I'm just saying that to answer your question... I had no idea. For the past twenty years I have been raising kids, nit playing on my computer.
And I am not asking anyone to celebrate anything, but I am just saying that just because one person doesn't deserve your respect, does not mean that everyone younger should be judged the same. I have read and really worked hard at getting where I am with numismatics and I know I don't fall into the same category as those you speak of so I should not be judged as so by you or anyone else.
Furthermore, it isn't only YouTube that has given out false information. I read an article, a reliable one at that (credentials) and was quickly corrected by @RWB when I stated an incorrect fact on the  forum. I appreciated his doing that and gave him the information needed to let them k ow they were wrong, because I did not have credentials to do so myself.
I hope that answers your questions and no hard feelings. I just know how much time and energy I have put forth and how often I have researched, on my own, to keep from pestering all of you with trivial questions.
I hope you have a wonderful day and may all your round trips to Pennsylvania be safe and rewarding. 😉

You actually got me looking at starting a type set so I did an autobuild from my collection. I don’t have much in there but it is a good way to start looking at other coins. I did step away from the nickels for a moment and picked this up last night. Have been looking for a nice woodie Lincoln for a while and found this. Can’t wait to see it in hand. Most likely will take the spot in my type set.

A flying eagle cent to add to the type set. I had to step up but very happy with this example. Huge thanks to @Coinbuffor being a second set of eyes. There are some good people, and numismatists, in this forum!

Condolences. You came to the right place. Don't worry about the nails--this isn't the salon, this is the coin people. You should see some of the gnarly fingertips we get in here holding coins for photos.
That penny isn't silver, though I see why you'd think so. It's been plated, common in HS science experiments. It has no special value from a numismatic standpoint, and if it did, that edge ding would be crippling. It's a 1959 Philadelphia (no MM means Philly) memorial reverse cent with light wear but between the plating and ding, has a collectible value no greater than face.
So if you want to do something special for the ceremony that could involve this penny's loss, that will not be negative or wasteful in any way. If it can help you with your grieving and sendoff, you should do that. If knowing that it has been plated actually makes it more germane to the celebration, better still. You'll never spend a wiser penny in your life.
Here's one idea: depending on her birth year, it would be very simple to come up with a roll of pennies from that year that you could give out in memoriam at the service. Local coin shops have rolls of them and circulated ones aren't usually expensive after 1934. And if you somehow can't find any, or you have time to prepare, ask on here. I or someone else will just send you a roll or however many you might need. Just about every US coin collector has so many rolls of old Lincs it'd be fantastic to get rid of some for a worthy and helpful cause where they'd really make a difference. Let us know what your timing is like.
