  1. Yes the vast majority of the 1948-1963 FBL are very nice, a couple are suspect in my mind. Fir some reason the 51d’s are usually well over $100, but I got this one at $55 all in. They can be seen in my Registry (I think)
  2. Thanks it completes my MS64FBL set! Quite proud of that! Also the 1904 O Morgan has been on my bucket list and this one has some toning too. my lucky day I guess
  3. Actually I did! Found a seller who accepts offers, submitted two offers got two new beauties for a bit under retail. an MS63 1904 0 Morgan and a 1951 D Ben Franklin MS64FBL
  4. Lol and it has full step! One! still pretty darned nice fir a RH coin.
  5. I’m slow in catching on. But I just found what I wanted that accepts offers which the seller promptly accepted. This is going to be my new approach. Got my last Ben Franklin MS64Fbl and a nice 1904 O Morgan MS 63 for less than retail with free shipping.
  6. Twice this week I have been bid sniped on eBay. I was the only bidder for six days and a few minutes befor ending, another higher bid received. Three times I raised, and at the 1 second mark the bid was sniped. EBay explains their policy. Attached. so they allow software to Bid snipe.
  7. Eagle, Sandon, I got interested in American Ninja and missed out on the half dollar. Most likely for the best. I found an excellent buy on a 1948 silver half crown to satisfy my hunger this week . VkurtB yes there is a Santa Claus!
  8. Here is another one that has a funny mint mark position and appears to have been cleaned . I see many of these coins selling as “shipwreck effect “ SS Republic. Who knows the original coin, as the seller agrees is 100% real guaranteed. Selling around $45. I want one of these, I don’t care if it is shipwreck or not. So I am still considering it.
  9. Thank you Sandon! The seller guarantees it is a real coin however, all of the things you mentioned are very likely. thank you!
  10. Thanks Eagle, I appreciate the feedback. I’m usually not a raw coin buyer, but I have purchased from this seller before and they have a good rep. But I will seriously check it out.
  11. Thanks JP! I’m gonna pass, this seller always has a lot of too good to be true coins anyway. B
  12. As long as we’re on the subject of whizzing cleaning, I’m about to pull the cord on this nice half dollar example, fell free to adjudicate
  13. Please follow the suggestion on the post things you should do before posting on thus forum.
  14. They are distinguished from the millions of other 1936 pennies minted in the final year of King George V's reign by the miniscule dot placed below the date on the “tails” side of the coin.Apr 19, 2013 David Vagi says:
  15. The best way of getting nothing for something!
  16. I concur with Hoopster. Buy the book, even if it is a year or two old. You can learn a great deal by looking at your coins through the book. Grading them is another issue. Either choose an ANA dealer or spend the bucks to have them graded. Just to be honest, just because you have “lots” of coins, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have anything other than face value. The book can be a great guide for this.
  17. As a rule I would never by a Cleaned,, details cleaned, whizzed coin at any cost. Seems silly to me ! Buy a problem free coin. If you can’t afford it, maybe you shouldn’t be buying it in the first place.
  18. Eagle the seller to two different reverse photos in his ad. The PCGS reverse clearly shows a crack. The other picture of the reverse does not. Something fishy there. I’ve contacted the seller and he’s declining knowledge. Avoiding!
  19. Cool JP! Nice find . One do ant think to look at new coins for issues that have been around since minting began.
  20. I would be more inclined to purchase an PCGS graded VF35 than take a chance on this raw coin.
  21. Coinbuf, I noticed what appeared to be a die crack on the reverse. Even another bad sign
  22. Thanks Hoopster. I will pass in it as bidding is up to $55. I have a 1951 Ben raw coin that could possible be graded as an MS64FBL but with grading costs it becomes a borderline decision. It remains the only Benjamin D that I don’t have. At least in graded form. I also think it’s a scratch or gouge but have to wonder why something that obvious wasn’t noted during grading and still managed an Ms64? thanks again
  23. Was going to purchase this 1951 D MS64 FBL when I noticed what appears to be another crack in the bell. Is this a die crack?
  24. I’m sorry it is just a badly damaged coin. Still worth 25c though.
  25. When I bought my first 2021 ASE, NGC had a statement that essentially said in order to get first releases, the coin had to be submitted by a certain date and be in original mint packaging. After the expiration date, my submission had not shown up yet, so I contacted NGC via email and was reassured regardless of the date marked as received ( which trailed the actual delivery by a week), I never did get that designation . But since it was a PF 70 UC, I never pursued a complaint.
