Well this coin must have come from a collection. I never find a 1964 D that you can see die scratches in the field. There were 1,787297,106 of these punched out most with low details no steps and flat hair. This is a nice 64 D.

Hello all, I was roll hunting today and found this cull piece. Through the years I have seen quit a few of these1959 dark nickels also termed as Black Beauty's. Most are not and just environmental damage. This one is a maybe? Just for fun, I thought I would post some shots and get some others opinions to see if it looks like one.

1803 Large 3 Draped Bust half dollar, PCGS graded Fine details, scratched, would be nice but for the likely intentional old scratch extending from Liberty's mouth. Some of our "newbie" collectors would probably proclaim that they had discovered the "spitting goddess" variety!

I purchased this coin from the Stacks and Bowers Fairmont (Rhone set) auction this past Aug.   I had been mulling over a couple of lower grade examples on some dealer websites prior to this auction.   I am really glad that I happened to look thru that auction as this coin is nicer than the two that I had been considering and less expensive (even with the vig) than the MS62+ coin on one dealers website.   These are the S&B auction photos as I have not sent this to anyone for photos as of yet, MS63 CAC green bean.

On my recent trip to Vegas (good trip btw), I got this nickel out of one of the cashout machines in one of the casinos. It's a shame it has a few big hits and some chatter because it is a really good strike and still has good original luster. Thought I would post it here for the enjoyment of those who like a good nickel find in circulation.

I don’t seek them out but I have acquired a few error coins over the years. I particularly like the broadstruck pieces.

1955 Jeffs from Philly are notorious for having inferior planchet issues. This example is very dark yet the surfaces are pretty clean. Looks almost black in hand.

Lem is correct, your coin does not qualify for a full band designation, your coin shows signs of time spent in circulation and the horizontal bands that wrap the fasces (the vertical lines) have to be full and split.   You can see the splits on the edges of the bands on your coin, but the centers are fully blended from circulation use.   While a perfectly good coin for an album, your 1942 dime is a very common date and only worth the value of the silver content.   This is what a full band coin looks like, note how the horizontal bands are distinct and separate all the way across.

No. There is no split on any of the bands.
