  1. The above people are experts. Not trying to be funny or rude, get it graded, they won't overlook anything. Then you'll know one way or the other.
  2. I told them to unionize, but they wouldn't listen. Alright then, go on home, git.
  3. We can't grade it if you don't show good photos of Both sides. I'm pretty sure you don't have the first, there's already a label out for it. (etsy).
  4. At least it's counterfeit news, not fake news. Edit: too strong language, sorry. It's just been whizzed a little, that's what I meant.
  5. Everyone said 'wait and see', I'm tired of waiting, and I haven't seen much fluctuation in what I'm interested in. I'm headed for HA tomorrow and submit several.
  6. No need to remove, it's all good. Keeper maybe, clean it up and see. Environmental damage galore, nasty, 'Jeepers Keepers' category. I know you've done what I've done several times, not really looking at the coin in hand first. Pick it up straight to my loupe, then Dmmmmm, holy cow can't drop that nasty thing fast enough, might be some living things amongst it, run and take 2 showers.
  7. Is this the Bruce Morelan specimen that sold for $10 million last time? --- Yes. The Bruce Morelan piece.
  8. I'll soon be acquiring (I think) a 1794 dollar graded SP66 from ATS, a little tentative about cross over grading it at this event. Is there insurance available to cover the loss of value if it is downgraded? I just realized I might be acquiring the piece after the ANA Worlds Fair, so I guess I'll wait for a later discount grading deal. In the meantime, I will bid on a slab Weber grill if you ever want to depart with it, hard to come by, at least with documentation. I've been looking.
  9. Nice BD present. Friend is a keeper. (Special K) I wouldn't know what I should do with it either if it were mine, but I know what I would do with it, see what's in it, What are you going to do? SC error search?
  10. They can't claim it, they're dead. It was part of the little known 'Chernobyl Hoard'. They're still marketable tho, you just have to be extremely quick on 'turnover' time. What we like to call 'condition rarity folks'. Sorry, no two payments on this one.
  11. Thanks for posting. Like the 1880 gold $5 Half Eagle, keeping eye on it. Don't know if it was 'conservatively cleaned' or 'cleaned conservatively'.
  12. First of all, good eye on the branches, not a chance in the world I would've spotted that. The '58, I hate to say, because I don't think I've ever been right yet, but if that isn't a D over D, I'll...something, b g
  13. Worked on the RR for half a century, that's exactly what they are. Sometimes I'd put a 50 cent piece on rail first, stacked with a quarter, then nickel, penny, and dime. Then push them snug up to the engine wheel and a rock in front of them so they wouldn't tumble, then slowly roll over them about a foot, flip them over, back up about a foot. Never did get the results I wanted, just tossed them into the brush. It was fun tossing them to someone else for them to look at, because the temperature of the glob was in the 170 range.
  14. I've got at least a six pack of pareidolia in me, if not a full case. Under the chair leg under his right foot is starting to look like another T to me.
  15. It is a matter of opinion. I wanted to say 15 hrs ago what my first reaction was. Somewhat taken aback at the transformation from a 'not bad' at all coin to a pale, plain looking, been cleaned coin. Since JKK said it first, I concur, ditto. I'd go to that sulfur over time trick Just an 'eye appeal' OPINION though Colby, and as you said, had nothing to lose, and still a cool coin.
  16. I'd throw that vessel into the fire pit before the little alien heads start popping out of that gooky hole. That might be the mother coin, the beginning, you can nip it in the bud right now, or at least send it to China.
  17. Lysergic acid diethylamide costs money, pareidolia is free, and putting the two together, gazing at the thing with an open mind, a 1943 D/S over 1753 V with corroded rim damage, about 412 AD, is plausible. Especially if you also consider the bump on the head, b g. Edit: You ought to take the coin grading class, I heard NGC is hiring now....
  18. The close up looks like Lee Harvey Oswald did after some Texas Rangers did some serious interrogating.
  19. Alright Greg, I've looked at it enough. I want it. We might do some trading or something. I'll msg you in a few weeks, see how you feel about it after some time. He looks stressed, war does that to presidents. Edit: I've got a 1931 S Lincoln that you...., never mind, talk to u later......
  20. The several numismatic friends that you have, and are not associated with this forum, and are clueless, then they should read this thread. The half dozen or so people that help us on these newbie questions, they're bad to the bone, know their stuff. What one doesn't say, the next will, and so on. They're really a think tank problem solving group that know each other, and we're lucky to have them. There's no use on 'trying to figure out' what you have here, they've already said it. Take it to the bank. -- Later G....
  21. I'm seeing different things every time I look at it, like staring at changing clouds. Show a different picture of the obverse Greg, if you would, a slight angle, maybe edit the color or lighting a little. It's an interesting little find you have there. Every year my cheeks, chin, and neck seem to get thinner. Yep, that's an old man neck, he needs to hold his chin up a little higher and that chicken neck will go away.
