  1. A weak strike is a common problem on the reverse of Lincoln Memorials. To put it simply, the amount of material used to fill in Lincoln’s head leaves little left to fill in the reverse properly.
  2. The D mm on the OP’s coin is in the wrong position to be VP-002 RPM-006.
  3. It is not advised to clean any coin except for soaking in pure acetone. I usually let mine soak for about 24 hrs. to remove gunk and residue. Make sure your container is covered.
  4. You can post as many as you want as long as they are each on a separate thread. Not sure of your question or if you have one but what I see is a discoloured 1943 steel cent. If you are not sure, the weight to two decimal points will tell you if it is steel or not. Steel is 2.70g Copper is 3.11g
  5. Looks like a partial grease filled die. Quite common and adds no value.
  6. Discolouration is not an error, it is caused by whatever environment it was exposed to. It would cost you in excess of $65.00 to have a coin worth 1 cent to be graded.
  7. And there wouldn’t be as it is not a variety. A variety is created on the die so every coin struck from that die would be the same, not a one off as the OP’s coin.
  8. Your right, it is the remodelled style. Still need a Draped Bust
  9. Welcome to the Chat Board This is the forum for registered sets, I have asked that it be moved to the Newbie Forum As far as your coin goes, it is just damage and worth 10 cents. In the future, please crop and rotate your photos, this will help increase the size and get rid of the background.
  10. Nice examples of each. You have quite a job ahead of you to obtain an example of each.
  11. That “halo” is the result of Progressive Indirect Die Transfer, also known as Ghosting.
  12. Unless a coin has a value of at least $200.00, it is not worth the $65.00 or so to get graded. Usuallly only high grade or rarer coins get graded unless you have a personal reason. Out of curiosity, what is it with “newbies” that they want to get regular business strikes graded? Please don’t say you saw it on YouTube that they are valuable.
  13. Looks like there is glue or a like substanse spilled on the Obverse. Try soaking it in acetone for 24 hrs and see if comes off
  14. Not sure how you obtained this Morgan, but because of the value, it is also heavily counterfeited. As suggested by previous members, post a clear photo of both sides and we can start from there.
  15. Welcome to the forum. An error can only occur during the striking of the coin. Seeing those marks could not have happened at that time, then it is damage.
  16. Not much to go by but I would say that is a Variety 2. I remember reading on another site that there were 25% of Variety 1 and 75% of Variety 2 minted in 1939
  17. The mint run their coin presses at high speed and quantity gives priority over quality. Any errors, as they are usually a one off, would not probably be noticed until the coins were bagged and send out for distribution.
