  1. [This is a perennial problem with chat boards. It is virtually impossible to weigh in without appearing to take sides. I once committed the unpardonable sin of siding with a troll; I was promptly vanquished, i.e., consigned to the Outer Limits.]
  2. [Nyet, comrade. Ve r stil condukting speciale militry operation in Donbas. Maybe nex time.]
  3. But is it state-sanctioned or the activity of unlicensed vendors? There are billions of people in China speaking thousands of dialects spread over a wide area. I believe somewhere in Beijing, there is an apparatchik upset, not that counterfeiting is occurring, but that its operation is surreptitious and his Bureau is not directly profiting thereby.
  4. Spectacular achievement! Congratulations @Lem E
  5. [Possibly one of the most creative approaches used in relying on coin topography, i.e., dentils, to illustrate a problem. Well done!] ๐Ÿ˜‰
  6. [The coin clearly has steps, but it fails to meet the 5- or 6- Full Step threshold. There are "no step" Jefferson Nickels, but this isn't one of them.]
  7. [FWIW: "The Coin That Could Wreck Crypto," The New York Times, June 17, 2022, (which unbeknownst to me had a very comprehensive summary on a "stablecoin" called Tether, with a handful of references to recent related articles)].
  8. [I keep hoping someone will drop in and say, "Q.A., they -- meaning all the other members -- have got it all wrong. They embellish! They embroider! They EXAGGERATE! Volatility? Where? Lack of consumer confidence? How so?" Okay, so who's buying up all this stuff? Where's that magical Racing Form they've been consulting for top-tier investor advice? I'll wait...]
  9. First time I've seen a coin look better in a holder. Nice!
  10. It is but you are greater than. I abide by your counsel.
  11. In my case, zero cognitive skills, major impairment. I am unfamiliar with this issue, but can definitely see why it would catch your eye. I'll check back later when lurkers check in. ๐Ÿ“
  12. I cannot help but feel that fellow member, @VKurtB may prefer his coins raw, but at least he is spared the disappointment and humiliation of sight-unseen buyer's regret.
  13. @The Neophyte Numismatist Thanks, I still cannot wrap my mind around a concept reduced to pixels.
  14. Absolutely not. My understanding is that the coin, a limited edition, was minted and doled out to select dignitaries. Could the coin have been so distributed and wind up in China? I suppose so, but unless @numisport or someone of similar standing with experience in negotiating such bullion deals gives me the go ahead, sorry. No can do. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  15. Okay, here we are... Van Allen and Mallis. I do hope my use of band-width contributed to the broad body of knowledge out there. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  16. Well, acronyms stand for something, right? Oops, I forgot. You're going to tell me to Duckduckgo-it. Fine, I willl...
  17. @VKurtB: Back in my active rooster hunting days, I came across a listing for a 1,000 or 10,000 Haitian gourde gold coin (issued with "Papa Doc" Duvalier's likeness) and wondered, first of all, what this coin was doing in China, and who would even want to negotiate an international acquisition like that? Nigeria? Fuhgettaboutit!
  18. @GoldFinger1969: I believe at post-time, these cryptos were dropping sharply, that's why I began the thread... I was curious to see if there was somebody out there who had no problem with something evidently not for the faint-hearted--and could drop a jewel as to why. (Like you, I like mine in hand to appreciate the luster, brilliance, size, heft, etc.)
  19. You honor me with your presence! I appreciate your counsel.
  20. Glad you've chimed in! You've hit this problem I've had with clads squarely on the head. I did not know exactly why I didn't like them! Poor quality...This explains everything!
  21. That first line is troubling. Forget whether grading is art or science, what does this say about "professionalism," not to mention the lack of replicable empirical standards a fellow distinguished member periodically cites? P.S. Ten years on the Forum... Happy Anniversary! ๐Ÿ‘
