  1. I received this u.s.1977 Washington quarter in my change. The quarter only weighs 5.4 grams way off the 5.67 grams that it should be! It appears very similar to an early 1887 V nickel I have and a couple V nickels I have in my collection that I believe could possibly be counterfeit as they are spot on way over or under weight as well! They are similar in color and appearance as this 1977 quarter, even with damage, corrosion, or other environmental issues I believe should weigh within  a much different tolerance. The quarter seems it should weigh more with the added corrosion because it is not worn down and has detail still. In any case can someone please give input as to what is going on here? I am stumped! Thank you, Capone1929

I received this 1974 washington quarter and at first glance it looked like an ordinary POST MINT damaged coin, but under the jewelers loup and after closer inspection of the reverse this appears to be a GENUINE broken or shattered die error and or a struck through or multi strike error?? The AM in America on the reverse very unusual the eagles beak, and also appears to have tale tale signs of cracked die cudding, However I sure would appreciate other opinions on this and feedback because im stumped! Totally appears to me to be an error but a more trained eye than mine may see it differently, Thank you, Capone1929

Looks like a regular san Francisco minted 1941 Jefferson "s" nickel with some machine DOUBLING of the MM mintmark and a little enviromental damage that has had the MM possibly repunched by hand. Do to this being a normal proccess in the creation of the coin. I believe although the MM is distorted this is common and is just a nice CIRCULATED 1941 s nickel and good addition to a coin or nickel COLLECTION! It is possible it is an error coin, however I do not believe it is. I am not an expert so please do not take just my word for it get other opinions as I do not want to mislead you or give you wrong info, It is a nice find and it is an early Jefferson nickel as the first year was 1938 of this type of Nickel, yours is from the third year of issue. Hope this helps a little and good luck. Capone1929

  6. Also bought a new book "Coin World Making the Grade" grading guide to the top 50 most widely collected U.S. coins. So glad I did very helpful especially when purchasing ungraded coins! Really trying to learn all I can so I'm not too much of a pest, however you and others who help newbies like me on here are invaluable and greatly appreciated, can't thank everyone enough, Capone1929

  7. Thank you very much for your replies, time, and patience. Some things I purchased before I  learned what I know now and joined here! The people here really have made me more aware of what I buy! Now I prefer just graded NGC, unless it's something I can't afford otherwise, however I HAVNT recieved it in the mail yet but I purchased my very first NGC graded coin! Can't wait to get it! It is a 2002 W 1/10 oz. $5 gold eagle MS70 ultra cameo! That is how much people on this site and people like you have changed my view and perspective of the hobby. Previously you mentioned good addition to collection, were you reffering to the 1863 Cent or the 1888 V nickel? Also I hope I am posting these replies and photos of coins properly for the follow the photo proccess! Wow some very impressive coins here, Thanks again, Sincerely, Capone1929
