  1. Hello all, I have started a custom collection on the registry named "Morgans & Peace Dollars. I would appreciate if an administrator or one of you veterans could see if I'm on the right track ? I apologize for my naiveness for this platform - blame it on my age LOL

  2. Hello coin lover's and experts, I have a real "newbie" question :) I really have appreciated all of the advice and input (even the "head-shot" about me having more money than sense LOL). I also understand that you buy the coin not the holder and the fact of grading and shipping are expensive but I'm thinking of grand-kids being able to get a fair price down the line without having to understanding the hobby. My question is :: Would a set be easier to sell if it's all graded by the same same grading company (i.e. NGC or PCGS) ? I have a complete Morgan and Peace set all MS except 1890 to 1894 but they are mixed grading companies. Thoughts (and be gentle LOL) ???

  3. Thank you so much for this advice / information. VKurtB is "spot on" - I guess my reseach needs to focus on release dates: mint sells out before I know about new coins LOL But when buying older coins, I must either develop a local relationship or deal with retail markets - correct ? The hobby is a business and collecting becomes very disappointing. Happy Veteran's Day Tony fellow vets !!! Thanx again for all the input :)

  4. Thank you for the advice. I truly receive it, and its not I have more money than sense - its I'm trying create a collection for my grand-kids at an older age therefore they won't spend their inheritance on a hobby that I could start for them. I wasn't watching the prices of "pre-order" for these coins from the mint.. All I see now is what's on Ebay, JM Bullion, and other retail outlets. Any input is greatly appreciated. :) Thanx again

  5. I said I was not going to indulge in the new Morgan and peace considering how much I spent to create original sets of both (PS thanx for all the advice "that its not the time to get into Morgans" but I didn't listen LOL). Well my compulsive behavior has grown in the 2021s. I see a set of MS 69's all mint marks (6 coins) for 1000.00; is that a reasonable price ? Or should I just get one peace and one Morgan and be happy? Any advice is appreciated :)

  6. First, I would like to state that all the feedback was absolutely correct and greatly appreciated ! I must study more and be more patience in purchases. Although I have joined a local coin club there aren't any nearby coin shops. I think purchasing raw coins at online auctions is almost impossible due to enhanced pictures and ambiguous descriptions. I will post pictures when I get coins from grading company. Thanx again for advice. PS: I was advised earlier (on this forum) that this wasn't the time to collect Morgan and Peace dollars but I didn't listen :(

  7. Hello coin lovers, this newbie has learned his lesson on online auction purchases. I got some decent prices basing my bid on description and minimum UNC prices, but unfortunately some were cleaned after I had them graded :(. I realize lost a little money but it's a learning experience. How can I tell what these coins are worth (I know melt value LOL).

1935 Peace Dollar - AU details cleaned

1928 Peace Dollar - AU details cleaned

1892 Morgan Dollar - UNC details cleaned

    Thanx :)

  8. Hello Coin Lovers, I have heard a lot about fake coins, in fact a shop owner said that there are slabbed fake coins. I was looking at some of my slabs and something looks odd. I purchased a coin and when I received it I removed the sticker a lot of sellers use to track inventory but upon removing I noticed what appears to a hole in label inside slab (it almost looks like the 'white" backing coin is placed on before being slabbed. Am I worried for nothing or did I get ripped off LOL ? Experts please help :)
