Give the U.S. Mint a cash cow and they'll milk it to death!!!!

You are so right.  The 2021 Morgans and the 2021 Peace Dollars were 'teasers'.  If enough interest is shown - then let's run with it.  Going to be just like the Quarters.  It's just so sad.  So many people had their hearts set on this being of supreme quality and a 'Once in a Lifetime' experience.

How long before they issue a special edition gold peace or Morgan dollar.

I would be willing to bet good money they are discussing that idea.  I would go back to the US Mint, after decades of being away, if they would just fix their web site.

  3. Well, I paid a seller on EBay $118.00 for a 2021 Morgan Dollar Philadelphia Mint.  Now the seller paid the US Mint $85.00 + shipping costs and paid, shall we say, $14.00 shipping + insurance to me.  The most profit he/she made would come to about $15.00 + or -.  What do you want to bet I didn't get a MS 70?  Do you believe the seller took a peek before I got it?  The seller had 5 on sale at $103.00.  Down $15.00 from yesterday.  Does any one believe this may turn out to be a failure like the Old San Francisco Mint Dollar?  Entitled minds are saying maybe Proofs in 2022 and another run of the Morgans and Peace Dollars.

My dad even found a Sacagawea dollar

That's neat.  I just found an old coin purse I got years ago from Northeast Coin and there were six Sac Dollars in Mylar flips.  I believe I got them years ago in a USPS Stamp Coin Machine.  Came out as change.

  5. I've had bad luck with ICG.  I bought 3 Carson City Trade Dollars graded by ICG.  I thought I was getting a good deal but.  Tried to cross them over at NGC and it was 2 Details - Cleaned and the MS62 came in XF40.  Haven't bought another ICG.

A rather old thread but nothing has changed with how ICG is perceived in the marketplace

Coinbuf is right.  There was a time when they graded reasonable but that never lasted long.

  6. Okay, we're going to say you're right.  There is an NGC Post Office and we will not argue any further.  What I can't understand is why you people, who know this, will not share the address and Zip Code of this NGC Post Ofiice, Fl so people like me and Zig556 won;t have to suffer the USPS screw ups.  With that information we could send our submissions direct to NGC.

  7. Lisa is mistaken.  NGC has a 'Mail Room' staffed by NGC employees.  It is, in no way shape or form, staffed by USPS employees.  If so - then provide the Zip Code for this alleged Post Office.

    Hello Zorex,

Thank you.  We are currently opening the mail that was delivered to us on April 26th.

    Thank you,

    Lisa

    "delivered" by whom?

  8. I didn't get any; yet.  You folks aren't the only ones who have coins of poor workmanship and for that I am truly sorry.  I use to deal with the United States Mint decades ago but stopped because their Quality Control became so poor.  The last item I bought was the Old San Francisco Mint Dollar and it was so shabby I gave it away.  You would have thought, with all the hype, this would have turned out better.

When the buyers see the initial price drops,

You can get at P, D, or S for $119.00 or Best Offer.  Maybe the sellers have had a peek inside the Government little black boxes and found the following:  (Comments from ATS.  Names have been withheld to protect the innocent)

just received a Morgan D in the mail from the US Mint this weekend. Upon inspection, it has what appears to be a punch marks or blow holes under the D in "United" and under the last A in "America" on the reverse side. I am new to coin collecting so I'm not really sure what the process is. Does this affect the value of the coin? Should I be asking for a return/replacement?

I think they are minor strike thru errors. Apparently quite a few of these coins have problems. Some posted here have larger strike thrus as well.

t's a shame to pay all that money for these things and have a bunch of them turning out with worthless strike thrus that are more of a distraction than they are of value.

I cannot determine what may have caused those two 'indents'...the one on the left (as viewed) also appears to have a gouge attached, while the right one is clean. Strange... and on a new coin like this...

Has anyone seen blue paint? On the Peace dollars?  (He had picture to show it)

so maybe they will get this comment too.

Okay.  I'm looking at your 1921 Morgan and that pic suits me just fine.  I wish I could help you but all I have is an I Phone 8 and I can't take pics with it worth a darn.  From your comment it appears as if you are on the right track.  I look forward to seeing some of the pics with your new set up.
