  1. If you follow the submit procedures I’m sure NGC Coin will be happy to certify and grade any coin for you. However, unless you have one of the best 1969S pennies in existence, you will likely pay more for certification then the coin is worth. You are better off submitting those kind of coins in bulk and you might get a better deal. Just my opinion, good luck!

  2. A "competitive coin" is a coin that is in a "competitive set."  There are 2 ways to "bulk add":

    1. Add a single coin to multiple sets
    2. Add multiple coins to a single set

In both cases, you should first create the competitive sets you want; then:

To add a coin to multiple sets:

    1. View "My Competitive Coins"
    2. Click on the "Add to Sets" green +
    3. A window pops up with your sets and also will suggests sets that coin is eligible for
    4. Click all the sets you wish to add it to
    5. Click "Add to Set(s)" at the bottom

To multiple coins to a single set:

    1. View "My Competitive Sets"
    2. Click on the set you want to add coins to
    3. Click the green "Auto-build Set" button on the right. This adds all your eligible coins with the highest scores into the available slots.
  3. Hello,

Not sure if it was intentional, but suddenly 3 new slots appeared on this set: Basic US Type Set, with Gold (7070 + Page 5)

The 3 slots are all old $5 gold coins (capped, draped, classic) that people who buy Dansco albums would likely never buy.  They were certainly not in the Dasnco album pg. 5.  While I'm on the subject, I'd like to offer my vote to remove the T2 G$1 as well, even though NGC had it in the set for a long time.  Again, not on pg. 5.

    Thanks,

  4. Request another correction:

I requested to add this new coin (6315363-045) to this set (https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/competitive/united-states/type-sets/948/). It was added but to the wrong slot - it should be slot 15 not 16. I may have clicked the wrong "+" sign.  The coin is clad, not silver so it should be removed from this slot: https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/competitive/united-states/type-sets/948/definition/#215165.  I already requested for it to be added to the correct slot.

    Thanks

  5. Howdy,

Did NGC ever conclude this question?  Looking at one of the type scores for Morgan and Peace dollars in one of the 20th Century Type Sets (https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/competitive/united-states/type-sets/215/definition/#8761) it lists "2021 Morgan $1 Advance Releases MS " as eligible for the Low Relief Peace dollar slot, which is obviously wrong since 2021 is not in the 20th Century, and a Morgan $1 is not a Peace $1, but it made me wonder if this issue was decided.

For some reason, there are a bunch more "not eligible" coins listed as "eligible" in the the Morgan and Peace dollar slots for 20th Century Type Sets, e.g. (1526-7) ITALY FLORIN FLORENCE FR-276 FRANCESCO MARTELLI MS , (1565-1602) INDIA PAGODA NAYAKAS OF CHITRADURGA MADAKERI NAYAKA - GOLD MS , 1549 FRANCE CAROLU BESANCON MS , AH1255//12 TURKEY S20P MS , and a bunch more.

      Thanks

So, just to be clear, “Gem” is a term associated mostly with the “MS” grouping of coins, but not usually “Proof” ones? I do have “PF” 67, 68 & 69 coins, so is it safe to say these are “Gem Proofs” or would that be silly?

(asking for a friend just in case it turns out to be a dumb question🤣)

"Gem" implies a grade of 65 or better.  If it is graded Gem by NGC, it is.  If it's "Gem BU" or "Gem Proof" sold raw by a dealer, do not be surprised if you send it in to be graded and it comes back MS62-MS64.

If you have PF 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 graded coins, you have a "Gem Proof" collection.  But if you know it's a 67, that's better than just a "gem" since in that case it just implies it as "at least" 65 in uncertain terms.

Bought this for 10 and after weighing it on both sets of my scales. Supposed to be right at 27g. This one is 21g.

I hope you mean $10 as was assumed throughout the post - if so, I waste $10 at Starbucks all the time so you got a cheap hole-filler until the real-deal comes along.

My opinion: if you are going to buy a classic coin worth over $200, buy it certified or from a brick & mortar store with a return policy.
