Thanks for the kind comments, Fishfinder and Chris.
I found this raw quarter by accident today on eBay
and was the winning bidder. I see no hair lines and
there is the faintest rub and feel that this will holder
as an AU 58 .
This date was on my "Upgrade List" as I'd like the
set in AU 58 - and occasionally a MS 64 if there are
no AU 58's available.
Comments invited and appreciated.

Recently added a nice AU 58 dime
from an eBay seller. I was a little
hesitant because of the color but
the coin arrived yesterday and its
nowhere as dark as the seller's images.
As as matter of fact - its quite a stunning
little coin. Also - I got it for "short money" too !

Thanks, Bob.
It was an honor and a priviledge to have been his Son.
He enjoyed my collection more than I do, I think.
He could spend hours at the bank in complete solitude
with his 5X and admire each and every coin. Every so
often I'd bring home one of the sets so he could take his
time viewing them. Coming home from work, I'd hear...
" ... did you notice the star to the right of the date wasn't
as well struck as the others ? "...or some such critque;
all I could do is laugh.
Anyhow - as no one else in my family cares for coins -
and most just think I'm nuts to spend more than ten bucks
on anything. As a result, I have been treating this Forum as
my personal " Show & Tell ".
I hope I'm not offending anyone by the number of posts and
images.
Her'e an upgrade to my 1916-P Quarter :

Since my last post of Tuesday, October 28th
I lost my greatest supporter, my Dad.
He had a full and long life, and he's sorely missed.
My only solice is that he didn't suffer and passed
away in his sleep on Wednesday, October 29th.
He and I spent the day together on his 91st birthday,
Monday, October 27th. While he was with me,
he inquired what new coins I had located for the
collection; I showed him the NEWPS that I've
imaged in the previous posts.
His inquiry was - what no dimes and only one
new quarter ? We then went on line and I browsed
Heritage's upcoming internet auctions. There were
quite a few dimes - none of which grabbed me - and
one quarter I have had great difficulty locating in AU 58:
the 1906-D.
All Dad said was buy it. I threw in a bid and then forgot
about it until last night. I won the coin. Here's that coin:

Squared rims - and a needle point strike = Proof - and very well be a Cameo to boot.
Very nice coin - thanks for sharing it with us.

Looks MS 61 - 62 because of the slide marks accross the face.
I'm no expert in the AT / NT debate - but the coin looks NT to me.
Send it in for certification - it can't hurt.
Funny - " Barber Shop " - I guess I could, couldn't I ?
