I have been tracking a couple 1914-S Quarters in AU,
as a good friend offered me his AU 55 which I really
like. However, the ones I was tracking were selling for
quite a bit less than I was going to buy my friend's 55.
I elected to bid on a nice AU 58 - and walked away with it.
EDIT:
To add larger images:
Yup...its off to CAC once I get it....
Edit: It did not CAC - a real disappointment.
-
Surprised that I won this 1895 Quarter -
EDIT: To add larger Images:
I have another - but - I think this one is my favorite.

That 1896 S is extremely nice for the grade.
Thanks Forest City - I have been searching for an AU 58 - 1896-S for
quite a while...
Its choice for the grade [ IMHO ] and will get sent to CAC when they
get back from their vacation break next week.
Here is my first 1896-S in PC 55 - which I sold to a friend back in 2011.

Have not been on eBay for awhile - but I picked up a nice Dime for
my Everyman set { ATS } a 1910 Phila in PC 58 ....
Well... this clinches the night - the file is too large to post here.
Guess, you'll just have to take my word for it...its stunning.
To top off this inability to post, Photobucket decided to block my
posting any of my coins... a few days later - and a little complaining -
the account is cleared up - and here's the 1910 - Phila Dime in PC 58:
Edit: Coin was sent to CAC and it passed. 09/07/16:
I also heard from my YN who said this coin had no soul, so I picked this
up and plan on including it in a date set desk holder.

Have been waiting for an 1896-O Dime in 58 to show its face in the open market.
My last set had a beautiful 55 which I sold to my friend Beancounter ( JMW ).
Here's the latest for my current (3rd) set. It's from Dave Kahn. Very happy to
have found it.

Lovely 3CN !!!

Picked up two Nickels - an 1892 in 63 on eBay the other night -
and a 1899 in AU 58 ... both look quite nice - and the images are too
fuzzy - will wait to post them once I have my guy image them.
I also won two Quarters on the weekly Internet Only Heritage Auction
tonight. A spare 1892-PHila in PC 58 CAC -Ty 2 - with amazing toning...
....
The AU set was missing a decent 1907-S - I found this pretty acceptable
- at least for the time being -
Not thrilled with it - but I have seen worse...as a matter of fact, I just
consigned three other 07-S's to Heritage's Anaheim sale:
AU Details, MS Details and XF 45. I have a wonderful MS 65
but - I'm more of an AU 50-58 collector.

Beautiful, original, nicely colored, first-year-of-Issue Capped Bust Quarter.
The OGH and the green bean only add to it.
Congrats!
Plus One !!
That's a real show stopper !!
-
I stumbled across this Quarter tonight - and it was a BO - and I think
my offer was fair - and although I already own this date in PC 58
[ ex: Don Willis ] - I couldn't pass this one up for half of what I paid
for the Willis coin.
I do not have any images as yet of the Willis coin, but, as a side note,
that coin did not pass at CAC. I am hoping that this one will.
EDIT: Good news...This CAC'd

1898 was once a favorite date - as my Grandmother said it was her birthyear !
Well, the Ol Gal lied...she didn't want to tell me her true age !! Imagine my surprise
when I found out the truth !! I had put together a great Proof set and Mint Set from 1898 - and it was all for naught !!
I have a few 1898's still - but - these two coins are heading to the Block
in Anaheim in August ...
-
The 1911 Nickel arrived today .... Its nicer than its grade { IMHO }
Mentioned above: EDIT: This GOLD CAC'd
-
JOM , sell me yours and I'll be closer to that Goal !!
-
I have been looking for nice - unmolested V Nickels in MS to upgrade
my AU 58's { No, I am not selling the 58's, I just want two sets ...an AU
and MS set(s) } Also slowly working on a Proof V Nickel set as well.
I hunt almost every day { yes, I'm now retried } and today produced this:
yes, its MS - EDIT: Great news: This CAC'd - GOLD !!! "Exceeded"...WOW

Sweet Isabella, Grey. I had a nice one years ago - but when I sold off the
majority of my sets, it went with the rest - a friend bought it for one of his
clients. I miss it - but not enough to buy another one. Maybe some day, if
I ever teach the course at ANA in Colorado Springs again, The Coinage of
Charles Barber [ my co teacher was Glenn Holsonbake of Americana Rare
Coins in Sacramento ]
I picked up a couple of newps today... a choice Proof V Nickel - in PCGS 64
CAM - CAC - which looks decent - and should fit right in with the balance of
the set....
Also - a minor upgrade for my 1903-O Dime - its only a MS 62 but I
think its got a better look than a 62 ...IMHO:

Yup, Jom, I certainly do love it. Its got eye appeal for days, er, months !!
I bid on and won four dimes at Stacks Bowers today:
1907-S & 1909-S in PCGS 58 - are duplicate 58's in my collection:
1908-O and 1911-S are both 58's & upgrades :
