Have a safe drive! Remember to switch lanes half-way across the Atlantic.
The British Museum has what many consider the finest collection of coins and medals in the world. Unfortunately, they do not have any free samples.
I second the British Museum coin exhibit and it is a short walk from our London Office as well as the Bloomsbury show. My colleagues would be more than happy to provide samples at the events in which they attend.

Thank you for your post. I understand that you have spoken to our customer service manager regarding this and she is currently looking into it.

Thank you. Please mark the invoice as "Attention Dave Camire".
-
Thank you for your patience. Please submit the two coins back to NGC for grading on a new submission form. Please write, "Attention Dave Camire," in bold letters across the form. Please provide any documentation you may have along with the submission.

Thank you for your post. I have reached out to both my operations and grading teams to discuss this situation. I will provide the details as soon as they become available.

Thank you for your post. The NGC holders are sealed in a way that makes it impossible to tamper with the coin. If someone attempts to swap out a coin in an NGC holder, the outer casing will crack and splinter. I would first use the resource below to ensure that the coin data and image matches the physical coin in hand. If you still have doubts please send clear pictures of the coin and holder to service@ngccoin.com for more information.

Thank you for your post. Please submit the coin to NGC as a "Grader Review - Attention Dave Lange." Please also notate that you are looking for the Friendly Eagle Variety. Even though the images are very close up it is difficult to be certain if the variety can be attributed due to the glare near the eagles head. We will review the coin and attribute if deemed to be the proper variety. Thank you for your patience in this matter.
-
Thank you for your post. I am sorry to hear that the coin attribution did not meet your expectations. I confirmed with our variety expert that the coin was properly evaluated for all potential varieties on the original submission as well as on the second attempt. The $15 variety plus fee is assessed for each coin submitted for the variety service as the experts must evaluate for all potential varieties. The fee is applied even if the coin is not attributed as it is put through the evaluation process.

Please send the coin in on a new submission form. Please be sure to complete the form including the declared value, shipping address, etc. Please notate in large bold letters, "Grader Review - Please evaluate for mint error." Our experts will evaluate the coin again and attribute if incorrect. Please note that you will be responsible for the return shipping and handling fee if the attribution does not change. Thank you

Thank you for your question. When submitting a coin for reholder it will receive a new label, inner core and scratch-resistant holder.

Thank you for your question. The first gold coin had impurities on the surface that toned. We do not consider these mint errors. If a piece of debris gets in between the dies and creates a void on the coin or gets struck into it (as one of the photos show) then we would treat it as a mint error. In some cases, our experts are not able to determine the original designation, grade, attribution of a coin via images, we will request that it be sent back in to evaluate free of charge. Our experts were able to determine that both examples were attributed correctly, therefore this complimentary service was not offered.
-
Thank you for your post. NGC will not attribute a mint error designation to a coin if the error is deemed to be too minor. While the error may have occurred during the minting process, we are not able to attribute all errors. Please note that the designation is at the discretion of our grading team.

Thank you for your question. I have copied a link to our details grading page below which provides additional details on the process as well as the NGC details grading scale. Each coin is evaluated by multiple experts who determine the coins authenticity and grade. If a coin is determined to be genuine it will be graded and encapsulated by NGC. In some cases, coins have been improperly cleaned, holed, or contain scratches and NGC cannot provide a numerical grade due to the condition. If a coin is labeled as "UNC Details cleaned", the coin is genuine, the general grade has been determined as Uncirculated and the additional information of "cleaning" is provided. The online submission tracking section of your account will provide you with status updates but the grades are not made available until the items are shipped back to the customer.

Thank you for your post. There is no limit to the number of lookups that you can do in the Verify NGC Certification tool. We do, however, throttle (slow) the number of lookups that a particular user can do when our system identifies unusual patterns. For example, if the system notices that a user has a high percentage of incorrect lookups or lookups that were done extremely rapidly, we may slow the number of lookups that user can do for a period of time. These measures were implemented to help ensure the security of our database and prevent “bots” from crawling our certification data. In the vast majority of cases a user can do unlimited lookups without interruptions if they have valid NGC certification numbers and grades.

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, NGC is not able to grade the coins you are referring to.
