    2020 Mayflower Anniversary Silver Medal
I have not been active in this society for a few years.  I have been slowly selling off my collection.
I have been battling a rare blood cancer.  I may only have only a couple more chemo treatments left, fingers crossed.  Prays are welcome!
I have lots of time on my hands and been forced to retire middle of last year.  I decided that once I am indeed in remission, full time retirement
    is not really for me.
I have recently  started to submit coins to NGC once again.  I got my results back for the 400th Anniversary Silver Medal.

Time to switch gears.  Focusing on buying some investment property and need some capital. I haven't really added much
to my coin collection in awhile either.  I decided all my SAC, Presidential dollars and Silver Eagles must go.  If anyone is
interested, please look at my sets and let me know what tweaks your interest.  I am not done being part of this society just
    clearing house...

I submitted (5) P & D nickel sets, all were MS67 but I did find one more 2016 D MS68 6FS nickel. That makes three I found in that grade and it is TOP POP.

There was only three collectors it seems in the Presidential series that lost even more points today and yesterday. I lost another 150 points.

    WE ALL HAVE BEEN DUPED!
I did complain to NGC and got the same response posted on my earlier post.
So let me respond to that.
After 10 years of having the same points issued with very little change, NGC now believes the points are way over the top and had to be adjusted.
Well, I am not buying it. We all have been DUPED. The series are coming to a close after this year. That means NGC will not
be making more money on Presidential Dollar submission.
I can tell you that anyone that started near the beginning of this series, some paid big bucks to acquire the near elite highest grade dollars. Believing the interest will always demand some interest especially when they also look at the registry points. Now that a President with some MS68 with only 15 in that grade only gets just over 100 points. Why would anyone want to pay much for it now. Very low points for any coin pretty much disrepects the coin and NGC does believes there is not much value in that coin as well.
The bottom line is NGC kept the interest for those collectors all thru the series until the very end. Now it is ending, so is the cash cow that drove many dealers into submitting countless submissions.
The points are just for fun granted but when there are no points given, the fun is over. Why issue any points then? At least be honest from the start. I am very disappointed of NGC's decision and feel I been duped for 10 years of effort.
NGC...do the right thing. Put the points back where they were. Why adjust the points now? If you have admitted making a mistake, that's fine, except the collectors are paying for your mistake.

Presidential Dollars, 2007-Date, Mint State Registry Point.
How in the world can I lose over 51,000 point??? Some are very low mintage and low in high grades.
I have worked on this set for 10 years. Half the dollars are ones I found raw and had graded. We will conclude this series this year and how can NGC strip all the points away now???

Braided Hair Half Cents, 1849-1857, Circulation Issue
I went a coin show in Oshkosh, Wi last Sunday morning. they usually have about 50 dealers. A lot of them I have seen now and again sometime at the smaller coin show in Green Bay. By the time I arrived, the place was fairly crowded and some dealers had them in line so it was hard to even get a glance what they had to offer. As usual, most dealers had the staples of Morgan dollars, Walkers and Quarters. A lot of customers were busy looking for those coins to fill their slots with lists in hand going thru the discount boxes. After I BS'd with a couple of dealers, I decided to start asking if any had any either raw or graded Half Cents from the 1850s. Not surprising most did not recall having any or just brought some saying "If I have any, they will be in these" The Braided Hair Half Cents only was from 1849-1857 and all with very low mintages. T have another motive which I will share at a different time but its the 1850 half cent which seems rather rare as well.
I was able to locate a dealer from IL that thought he had a couple of them graded. It took him awhile to locate them and "dust them off"... Not many collectors seem to bother with this type. He also said that most collectors buy just one and are done with it. They also go for about the same price as well with any of those years. He showed me a 1854 MS62 NGC for $275 and a 1853 MS61 PCGS for the same amount. The 1853 looked under graded and had a better appearance than the 1854. Anyways, I was short of cash but he did start me thinking, why not seriously start looking for this set. I got his card and said he does not have a website. I bet if I called him he may take $500 for both. I looked on Ebay and yikes $$$.
Anyways, All you old time collectors that never bother with anything in the 20th or 21st century, I maybe coming over to your side after all.... Especially the oldest coins I have that are graded at a 1951 PF nickel and quarters in the 1950s.
I would be open to any advice.
    Thanks for listening!

    My best so far
I had ordered 20 proofs and 20 U.C. from the Mint the very first day offered. The Proofs were not high quality so I was only able to submit 3 of them. I am pleased with this result since the previous two submissions was a disappoinment. I was starting to think my eyes were starting to fail me.

    What would you do?
I could easily be NGC Best in Category for the Presidential Mint State series. All I would need to do is buy the two MS69s available on Ebay and I would be in the lead. The price is not too bad for either of those Presidents either.
Here's the issue: I could sell out my principles and integrity for what is simply for Ego and Vanity. Awards are nice but if it all it takes is who has the most money in the end to win, its not much of an accomplishment. And, in hundred years, would anyone care? The bigger issue is the dealer is not big on honesty or integrity. If I buy these two President dollars from him, I am losing my values and condoning the business practices.
So for the record, I could capture the Best in Category Award this year but I choose to live with myself and make a statement. No dealer should be allowed to add designations to coins just to increase the selling price. No dealer should be allowed to "create" their own CAC type label that carries no value and tarnishes all dealers that make an effort every day to be fair to the new coin collector.
    What would you do?

    1960 TYPE B REV 25C
I just received a 1960 mint set I purchased on Ebay. I always inspect the coins to evaluate the conditions of the coins to see if any are worthy to send in for grading.
Something told me to see if there is any Varieties. Sure enough clear as day the "P" quarter has the 1960 TYPE B REV variety. This is my first variety find. The quarter is possibly MS66.
So now I need some advice what you would do. Should I leave the mint set as is or break the quarter out to grade as a variety? I did pay $36 plus shipping for the set. None of the other coins are worth grading. Both Franklin halves have deep gouges.
I have found mint errors before but never a variety. I am happy either way. I picture is from NGC website.
    Thanks for all your inputs!

This one gives other coin dealers a bad rap in my opinion.
I have recently discovered a dealer on Ebay that goes by two different names. He use to go by what looked very similar to a name of Gotcha. Most dealers will put forth the effort and send in raw coins for grading then sell them on Ebay. This one does the vulture method and buys up newly graded coins from other dealers on Ebay that no one bids on. Basically taking graded coins away from real collectors. Anyways.... the more recent trend, in my opinion, is put on deceptive stickers on the graded coins. Everyone is familar with the CAC sticker that demands a higher price. This dealer puts on a MAC sticker that also includes a Trademark reference. Unsuspecting coin buyers will believe this too demands a higher price. Also, this dealer will add a reference of either PL or DMPL over the top of his MAC sticker even though the coin is clearly not graded with either of those designations! In my opinion, Both of these deceptive practices need to stop and protect coin collectors.
Anyone here, that is a member of this society, needs to inform Ebay this dealer needs to stop this deception.
Take a look yourself, it will not take you long to find this dealer on Ebay.

One of my best submission ever!!
I have been finding a coin here and there and had waited until I had enough for a submission to make it worth while.
I just learned of the results and I am really impressed. The 2014 P SAC MS69 and the 2014 D Kennedy MS69 blew me away.
I should be collecting Mint State nickels but I thought collectiing the proofs was enough. The 1972 P nickel MS66 6FS was more than I expected as well. There is only one that exists in that grade before this one.
Merry Xmas to me and to everyone!

    Usually they are disappointing.
I purchased a 1959 Proof set for $22.00. I did not really have high expectations. Usually they are stained and poor strikes and a few dings.

This time...wow...I was very impressed and excited.

I didn't waste anytime to submit all five with some others I have been holding on until I had enough to make it worth it.

    Here is my prediction:

    Penny PF68 (maybe Cameo)

    Nickel PF68 (possible PF69)

Dime PF68 (outside chance for Cameo)

    Quarter PF68 Cameo

Half PF67+ (there is a small mark on the cheek)

WOW... One can never really be prepared when you get laid off from work. When you get close to retirement age and realize you may never get to really retire, it does get depressing. Doesn't matter how old you are when it happens, it feels the same way. Problem is that I have three grown children and all of them are out of work as well. I been trying to help out with two of them moved back home...again. Most of you have already experienced this yourself. I was the only one working trying to hold it together. Anyways...sorry to blabber on... When you are a Veteran.. you always believe you already experienced life like no one else and tend not to share life's difficult times.
I know this is not the place to do this so forgive me. Give me a shout if you are interested in the items listed below. All just graded from NGC, the quarters have the flag label on them with the America the Beautiful on it as well.

Submitted only 18 coins from 55 Mint Sets
What can I say. You wait all year for the next annual Mint Sets to arrive hoping to find just one MS69 coin. For me, that hasn't happened yet and after going thru 55 Mint Sets, it won't be this year either. Out of 1,540 coins, I was only able to find 18 good enough to submit for grading. My only real goal is to populate my Presidential Business Strike Registry set. All duplicates and other coinage are sold to support my habit.
Here is the results from this submission: Too bad I don't collect the Business Strike ATB quarters.

First its all part of the set now its all removed
NGC just adjusted the Silver American Eagle registry set.
From 2011 to the present, NGC had all the "Struck" Eagles part of the set. I was about to give up trying to collect 6 - 7 eagles every single year was getting way too much. Now its back to where it really belongs. So now what do I do with all those other Eagles I never really wanted to buy in the first place..
    Merry Christmas everyone!

I thought I would get at least three MS68's and I did but not ones I really wanted. I didn't have much cash to submit a whole lot but did spread it around on some nickels, quarters and dollars. I was able to replace the 2011 P Hayes Early Releases with a regular label. I really don't care much for those "Releases". I see more of the dealers got the message this year and hardly any offered those...Thank goodness. My secondary goal is to replace any of those labels and any I did not find myself originally.
My next submission will be my first to NCS. A few Susan B Anthony Dollars and one or two Franklin halves. I know some would not waste money on modern dollars for that but I did have to sell a couple of mine earlier and need to replace them with my own anyways. Wish me luck!...

To Sell or not to Sell....
I know we all collect for different reasons and we, at times, change the direction what we collect and certain times.
I started the SAE set a few years back. Silver was low so I expected to buy the West Point Eagles directly from the US Mint. I could afford to buy around 10 of them and hopefully find a few that could be MS70 to keep one and sell the rest to support "the habit".....collecting that is. I know I would never be able to afford to purchase those earlier than 2000 year.
There is some satisfaction knowing you yourself found that MS70.
Now, the US Mint offers at least five different types each year since 2011. Which none of which, except the real West Point, would I be able to purchase raw to submit for grading. Don't even get me started why there are so many different labels, what was wrong with just the straight up original Brown Label?
Anyways... My dilemma is.... to sell or not to sell. My decision to sell now has been a family issue and to do the right thing. I thought I would only sell when I retire but I can see that most would not increase in value enough to hold out. I am almost 59....yikes...sounds old when you type it...
I recently learned that my oldest daughter who is a single mother raising two children....my grandkids..and a recurring Cancer. It is treatable and she has recovered nicely but she had two jobs which both employers dismissed her because she missed too much work trying to recover from the Cancer treatments. She is still trying to find work again but she may just face the stigma that some employers might shy away from.
In closing, If any member is interested in one or two or all of my Silver Eagle collection, drop me a line with an offer. Who knows what the future holds but I may some day acquire some Eagles again.
Excuse my going on and on... and Thanks for listening!

It came back just as I predicted as MS67.
Sometimes you get lucky and find a MS67 6FS nickel.
But you have an angel with you when you can find it with a Die Clash.
This is the same one I posted a couple of weeks ago. I first stated it was a Struck Thru but a member corrected me that it was a Die Clash. I even knew that but forgot the term... anyways..
I didn't bother sending it as a Mint Error since it was not
    enough of it.

Its been rewarding and a challenge thus far.
    First off,
I want to thank "SBH" for the compliment he left on his own registry set about mine. Not everyone appreciates sticking to only grading or buying NGC coins.
    Secondly;
I still have a few FDI dollars left in the First Day Issue set, I've been selling them off one of one. I could add them to my Business Strike set but that is not the intent to that set and I could never get the Number One set in my lifetime unless I was fortunate to find some myself in future Mint Sets. I could never justify spending $500 to over $1000 for just one modern coin. If anyone knows me at all, I always try to grade the coins myself first or if the price is just right, I will buy it. Once I find duplicates only then will I sell them and turn around and purchase the ones I still need. I do have to say that I was persistant on finding the 2011 Garfield P MS68 myself just recently. Spending hundreds is not as rewarding and finding it yourself.
    Lastly;
I really dislike Dealers that swoop up the remaining graded coins on Fee Bay taking them away from real collectors that can not afford the high prices on the after market. I call them the "Vulture Dealers" they don't have the the coins graded themselves.
I understand this is a free country and its their decision how they get their inventory and its the buyers decision to buy over prioed modern day coins. The Vulture dealers have no real interest in the actual coin hobby but its merely a product to buy and sell regardless how long it sits on their shelves.
I only will sell to other coin collectors whenever possible and ban the Vulture Dealers from buying any of mine. My thought that those coins should be appreciated and in someone's registry. Over the last couple of weeks, I have now noticed that at least one Vulture Dealer is actively trying to get new coins while the coin collectors are trying to fill their slots. Yes, its legal but I suspect that some may see this as immoral.
My message is "It's not just Buyer Beware but also Seller Beware"
Sorry about the rant but that's how I see it.
