My first coin purchase in months and it is one I didn’t already have an example of. Now down to 5 coins to complete the 38-64 set. This is the easier to find of the 2 reverses.

I think we got pretty lucky when we found this one. Glad you were able to pick it up.

Those are great looking coins. I agree if I can find a RPM or a DD I will try to pick it up regardless of the grade but they always sell kinda high. I don't mind paying a bit more if I really need it. Like the 43 over 42 you found for me.

Here is another RPM I was able to acquire a few weeks ago. There are a ton of RPMs in the Jefferson series. The 1943 Philly coins alone have a bunch and I’m sure I will never have an example for every one of them. VP-008 / CONECA RPM-025 Mintmark repunched north of first impression.

Every once in a while I pick up varieties from the Jefferson series. Sometimes I can get them at a good price with a lower grade example such as this one. When it comes to these, I’m not looking for high grade examples. I just like to see these with my own eyes to further my education in the series. This is the FS-501 D/D RPM. CONECA lists this as the RPM-001. The mintmark was repunched east of the first impression.

I picked up this quarter eagle for my oldest grandson's 18th birthday. He was an avid collector when he was younger, even joining the coin club in the city where he lives. Then he discovered girls and high school basketball, and his coins were put by the wayside. He even sold a bunch of his Morgans to fund his new interests. He has always wanted a gold coin, though, so I decided years ago that I would get him a nice one when he turned 18. I started to get him one from 2005, his birth year, but I decided to go one better and get him one from one hundred years earlier.
Thank you to Mark Feld of Heritage for his assistance in securing this coin.

1843-O Small Date quarter eagle, PCGS graded AU 55 with a green CAC sticker. The small space for the "O" mintmark makes the eagle look as though it were laying an egg!

I posted this in my ANA show report, but I don't mind showing it off again.
