NGC has always been far better when it comes to leniency than any other forum I've been on. They may have just refreshed the rules lately as we have been getting members that at times have gone over the edge. The rules were brought up to just try to reign in some of the people getting outside the lines. If anyone gets banned, I believe it will be for a very good reason!  

Maybe you could shed some light. Give us the rest of the story. 

There is more to this story. Did you have more than one user name? Did you get banned and join again under a new user name? What names did you use there? I person has to try really hard to get banned on CT. I can't agree with you without knowing all the facts. Please give us all the information.

Even in the early days of this site, I can't remember any heavy moderation here. The mods only get involved when things get really nasty or someone clearly breaks the rules. I'm sure that is not going to change. Our own actions are the only thing that would create such a change. Lets all be sure to not make the mods have to break up fights and that we keep things friendly. 

Moderation has never gotten in the way of rigorous discussion here no matter what opinions are being expressed. Be respectful of one another and mind the guidelines you agreed to when you joined and there will be no need for moderation. You may want to argue about some of the guidelines but they have developed over time and are in place for reason. The bottom line is that your first amendment rights do not apply here. If there are topics in the guidelines that are off limits then they are off limits. Moderation understands that things are not black and white. So much so that we recognize those who continue to post in the gray and feign innocence when it is brought to their attention. To those I say - cut it out.

I’ve participated here, off and on, since 2002. I don’t recall having seen any heavy handed moderation during any of that time and don’t anticipate any going forward, either. So man up and fear not.😉

I'm not sure what you are talking about, and I didn't go in-depth on the offending posts, but it just seems to me we should DISAGREE CIVILLY and not make anything personal.
I know some people have writing styles that sometimes include what are or could be considered "personal" attacks.  They may not mean anything by it but others may find it offensive.  The NY Post basketball writer Peter Vecsey was notorious for his personal tweeks and nicknames designed to make fun of various individuals.  I thought it was hillarious -- probably most readers did too (hence his popularity) -- but I suspect if you were on the receiving end of his barbs you thought differently.

Folks.....we're all adults here and the reason we come is because we LOVE coins and things related to coins....and it takes us away from the drudgery and misery that is life, politics, money problems, jobs, family, lousy neighbors, car problems, lousy sports teams, and a hundred other things that annoy us and bother us to no end.
Let's just ENJOY this site and try and learn from one another, OK ?

I guess it depends upon whether you believe that some posts clearly violate NGC’s posted guidelines and merit a report. And whether you’re open to the possibility that not everyone who sees things differently from you is on the thought-police force. After all, posting isn’t necessarily the same thing as (merely) thinking.

They anticipatted that Virginia would still be there 7 yrs later.
