Response to Rankings

It depends. All of this with the rankings just depends on why you are in the Collectors Society. I personally don't really care about the rankings, I just love to collect coins and paper money. No one else in my family gives a hoot about my coins or money but I have slowly been certifying my collection anyway. I have many more coins to go and with the cost of grading it may take me years. My goal has always been to certify these coins and have them recorded in one place with a relative val

I just took a look at my points/ranking

Please tell me they are through now This points conversion is killing me. This week alone, I have lost 14,000 points and a hundred spots in the rankings. I hope we are now through with the points conversion. I never have collected to be the best or the highest rank but, it was still nice watching the points build up and the increase in rank and now I feel I have fallen off the mountain. I hope it is over for a while.

The Ladies are home.

The 1st Ladies have finally made it home. I took a while to get them from the Mint and then tried to be as patient as possible while they were at NGC. And finally my little ladies have made it back home. I sent four in to be graded, 2 Martha's and 2 Abigail's and almost had a perfect run. Martha's 2 MS 70's Abigail's 1 MS 70 and 1 MS 69 Very pleased with the results. As from everyones earlier post, this is my effort to get my wife involved in my coin collecting. I guess we'll see if

re: Family Time

What is the secret? I think it is great your children want to be involved, I would like to know what the secret to that is??? I have a wife, 23 year old girl, 20 year old boy, 13 year old boy and a 10 year old girl none of which are interested in my coins or paper money. I take that back, they would like to know if they can spend it. I have started collections for all the kids as each one has a complete circulated set of Lincoln cents, statehood quarters and now presidents. The two that ar

Let it go!!!!!!

Let it go!!! OK guys, it is time to let the trivia stuff go. Coin collecting is meant to be fun, not everyone agrees on every aspect of the hobby but one on one disagreements should be dealt with privately not on the forum with everyone. Let's go back to the FUN forum we all know as some stuff is just not important enough to ruin your day over.

My love of Numismatics

This is why I collect coins and paper money. My coin collecting days started when I was about ten years old while helping my grandfather rebuild a house during the summer. One day while doing a little demolition, I found a bag full of pennies someone had buried deep inside a wall. None of these pennies were in very good condition but, that one 1909 VDB penny stood out. I did not realize it then but I was now hooked. Over the last thirty-five years I have collected off and on. It seems I

Time for Discounts

It is close to time. It is now close to time that we start talking about discounts. We have the high powered TV shows with their coins being graded at walkthrough speed while the us little guys are paying full price for a 16 day service that now takes 22 days. Out in the real world, during your busy season you increase your staff to accomidate the needs of your customers. I for one do not really care how fast the TV shows coins are graded, as long as it does not make it longer for mine. We
