Anything to help fellow collectors..but there are limits

Some people appreciate the occasional for-sale notice...but I can see your point. But I can certainly see your point. I mean Im not sure I would head for the exit after two such posts.. but excessive spamming of the journal area would get annoying. I for one, found the PF70 Quarter post beneficial as I am currently working to complete my registry set. There are, however, other venues which are more appropriate for selling and/or trading coins. http://tradingslabs.com for example, might b

Imaging my collection for online display

There is a lot of work to be done..but Im getting there Well I have begun work on imaging my entire collection for display online. It will be alot of work (the imaging part is the most time-consuming) Not only will this allow me to sahre my collection, but it will also provide me with a visual inventory. If anyone wants to check it out please stop by and sign my guestbook. Let me know what I can improve on. Thanks Dan Currier http://cvcardsandcoins.com/coins.php

State Quarter PF70 Silver Proof Sets

For those of you who have completed this set... I was just wondering how long it took, and whether you have any helpful hints as to the most cost effective way to accomplish this goal. 2506354-00

re: OK, new approach

Round 1 is in the books... consider it a lesson learned... Ok, so I have officially entered the world of coin submission. While I had originally had a more optimistic view of the grading outcome, some of you were kind enough to point me in the right direction. I would have liked to see more 70's and no 68's but C'est La Vie. I will sell the 68s, and 69s and use the money to buy 70s. I will continue to submit coins for the thrill I find in waiting for the results. Below are the results fr

OK, new approach...

Silver Proof Sets... I think the odds are on my side Ok, so I continue my quest to complete a set of NGC PF70 Ultra Cameo Silver State Quarters. I have decided that I will try buying up silver proof sets... whole sets.. and just the quarters in some cases and submit them myself to have them graded. I will then keep those which grade PF70, and sell the rest on ebay to make up some of the money I've spent. While I do not expect to make a profit, I think this may prove to be a little less expe

re: OK, new approach

Well... I'd say thank for the kind words... but anyway Well, I am glad to see some informative responses to my previous post. I had not considered the concept that many coins are returned ungraded. Although your delivery lacked tact, you have a valid argument. As I mentioned.. Im not out to make money.. but if you think it would cost me more this way.. I may have to give it some more thought. Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts.   DP

Day ??? Slowly but surely

The journey continues... I am now up to 5 coins purchased. I have 2 in my possession... and awaiting 3 recently purchased on Ebay. It is tough to fork out money on stuff for myself during the holidays... so my purchasing will probably somewhat reserved until spring. Hmmm...is there a hot time of year to purchase coins? Is there a seasonal effect on values? Interesting question.. I am not really sure. We will see.   DP

Day 1+

My journey has now begun. The pursuit for a complete set of NGC PF70 Silver State Quarters... My journey has now begun. The pursuit for a complete set of NGC PF70 Silver State Quarters... 3 down, 47 to go. :-)   Ok, you it is going to be a long journey...and perhaps pricey. In my recent search I have found an abundance of '04 and '05 with some '01 through '03 mixed in. What I have not found, however, is too many '99 and '00. I know they are out there and I believe it is best to get th
