eBay feedback 'link' shelf-life question....

7 posts in this topic

Hello all,

Here's the question.....

You have an NPB, so you file. The NPB remains an NPB so, 7 or 10 days later, whatever it is, you file to get your eBay fees refunded. Now, when you do this, does the NPB still have a feedback link to the auction?

Of course, their link should disappear at this point. But.....does it ?

Thank you,

Paul

Yes, they can still leave feedback. However, if they did not respond to the NPB, their feedback is not reflected in your score and there will be no rating (Pos, Neu, Neg) next to that feedback. A note from eBay will appear under the comment saying they never participated in the NPB process.

Yes, always file and receive your NPB (strike against them) before leaving your raging, negative feedback.

As most eBayers don't know what Greg has described above, I'd love to watch their face as they return, in kind, their negative only to discover it doesn't reflect in your overall score, and really, no matter what they state, it's burried a few days later with current positive feedback but the negative you left them remains.

Honestly though, if eBay did it correctly, they shouldn't even be allowed to leave a comment, but I guess, with eBay's disclaimer right after it, it carries very little, if any weight.

That's interesting, I didn't know that about NPBs...so what about for a non-performing seller? If I'm feeling vindictive (in other words, yes) I'm going to neg a guy at 59.9 days after I won an auction...will the seller get to reply I wonder? I did report him after all!

Basically, I won an auction for a relatively low price and the seller "declined" to complete the sale..though he did refund my paypal quickly. I got a nasty short note about a 'mistake' with the auction--and he turned around and relisted it within a day. I guess he mistook my small feedback as a sign of utter cluelessness (it was with an 'alternative' id that I use for anything I don't want anyone I know to see I'm bidding on wink.gif).

I reported him to ebay both electronically and via my super-secret-you're-a-good-customer-1-800 number. Ebay told me they would 'discipline' him but wouldn't give any details due to privacy concerns (of course!). Anyway about a day later I got a very nicely worded and contrite email explaining his mistake--which, quite frankly if he had just sent me in the first place I would have said 'no big deal' and let him off the hook without a problem. (A little customer service goes a long way).

It is a 60 day limit for feedback, right?

The 60/90 day time limit for feedback is a myth. I believe it is a MINIMUM of 90 days. If you type in the auction number, it will give you at least 6 months to leave feedback and sometimes much longer.

File with eBay that the seller never completed the sale and they will take action against him if it is a pattern.
