What's your favorite coin in your collection, priced below $1000?

An 1877 trade dollar in PCGS AU58 chopmarked. The coin is prooflike with beautiful flash and a hint of periphrial toning. It has a single obverse chopmark of very interesting design.

1849/6 half dime PCGS ms/63 with some kickin' toning. I'll get that coin imaged one day and post it here. smile.gif

Probably my favorite coin, period.

Since the majority of my collection consists of coins less than a grand it would be difficult to say. the 1865 IHC I posted in another thread is one of the most interesting coins I own.

All of them qualify! laugh.gif

This has always been one of my favorites, though it is not a coin, but a CWT:

I could probably come up with a different 'favorite' coin every day depending on my mood.

Interestingly enough, my favorite coin in my collection under 1 k is one of my 3 picks for the most overpriced coins.

It's an 1859 indian penny in pcgs 64, while it's a very pretty coin, this date has hundreds of pieces in the grade of 64 yet it typically sells for on either side of 800 dollars in this grade.

My 1845-O/Horiz. O, No Drapery (FS 2.5), AU58, Seated Half (see scan). It is the only coin of this variety graded by NGC.

Here is the Reverse.

Hmm. Beautiful coin or beautiful scan ? My AU58 seated half has semi-prooflike fields which, in AU58, allows lots of hairlines to show up.

I have a tie, in terms of the ones that fascinate me the most. I have a GSA 1880/79-CC (rev 78) and an 1878-P rev. 79 Morgan. They're both very attractive, but I like them because of the story/history behind why these coins were ever made. sumo.gif

I have many, but if I had to pick one it would be this NGC MS-65 Gettysburg commem. It was the first early commem I bought, and the one that sparked my interest in the series.

When this coin was received from a Heritage auction about three years ago I fell in love with it. None of the luster has worn off yet. Frankly I have seen very few Mercs that have the color of this coin. Its a 35D MS66 coin.

It's not near 1000.00 but I have a VERY nice ANACS G6 1918/7D buffalo nickel that I got from an old man named Jack Gorby about a year before he died.

He received credit in the CP book for some coins.
