WOW, Jason, that is a honking toner from 1950! It's a little hard to see from the toning, but that looks like a D too. Sa-Weet!!! :applause: Getting a nice toner, P or D, from 1950 is a Bear. I'm sure that you know this, but for the others that are reading this thread, there were no mint sets made during 1950, so finding a nicely toned Franklin from that year is a "female dog". Given that this is a MS65FBL you definitely hit gold Jason!

Yes, it is a 50D. I'm glad you approve :)

I bought it from greattoning on the Bay. I was actually bidding on a couple of other things and didn't notice this one until an hour before closing, so it was a bit of an impulse buy. I'll just go ahead and post a pic of the ones that I lost:

Wow, that '82-S is COOL!!! OTOH I believe the '22-S is AT.

I was a chauffeur for my younger daughter (17) today as my eldest had the other car. I ended up having to "waste" about an hour of time so I hit a B&M to look through their raw Franklins.

I'm supposed to be giving a talk on toning to the San Jose Coin Club in a couple of weeks. One of the aspects of 1960 (and 1959) Franklins is that some will get a parallel linear toning pattern that no one knows exactly how it comes about. I found an enjoyable 1960 Franklin in MS64ish with pleasant NT peripheral album toning that showed this pattern quite well. I'm going to be using this piece in conjunction with some slabbed 1959 and 1960 Franklin pieces to show how to discern AT from NT.

As a bonus, in the dealer's doubled row 2 x 2 box of halves, after the 1963-D Franklins came 1964 Kennedys. I found a pleasing 2 sided cameo '64 Kennedy proof with very clean fields, but a couple of noticeable marks... a satisfying coin to find raw. Both coins together cost me $22.

Nice 38-D buffalo nickel. I've bought two 38-D nickels this past year myself; a PCGS and a NGC. I like them too even though they are common.

Bought this 57-S double eagle this week.

That is a beautiful 1857-S double eagle—very nice for a non-shipwreck coin.

I saw that one offered and agree it looks very conservatively graded. Congratulations.

The only 1964 Jefferson Nickel to be awarded a star designation.

Wow Lee, that's gorgeous! I'll bet it's nicer in hand and it looks like it has tons of Cameo contrast! So, that makes it even more wonderful in my eyes!!

Nice pickup everyone. I just bought this NGC PF-65 RB Indian, for under $500 == which I think is a good price point for this series.

I learned late last night that I have won two Quarters:

Okay guys, this is a big one for my collection.

JeffersonNickel1942-DOverHorizontal.jpg

JeffersonNickel1942-DOverHorizon-1.jpg

The steps are really pretty decent with the normal exception under the 3rd pillar. I was stunned with how clean this coin given the grade until I saw the luster in hand. The obverse is basically flat with no luster and the reverse is muted but pleasant. This is one of those coins where you just can't have it all. The population is so low that beggars can't be choosers.

Enjoy!

Thanks. :) Charmy had it listed as Cameo. PCGS only recognizes Cameo for IHC's that are designated RD. :(

Here's another SLQ I picked up at FUN last weekend

- this came from Angel Dee's - and Andy and Alynne

were nice to talk to and very pleasant. They kept apologising

for not having images on their web site - but - I certainly did

like everything they had on display.

I spotted this beauty for my 1917 Mint Set -

Angel Dee's is MFD.

I probably have purchased 50-60% of my collection from them (probably 80% of my type set).

I have total confidence in them.

They're searching for IHC's for me to complete my set.

The images were copied from TeleTrade - but I feel this

coin is as close to being a Full Head with out the designation

as you can get ... I'm going to resubmit ATS and keep my

fingers crossed.
