Nickelnutzy

I have been helping my father out by searching and collating his absurdly large hoard of coins.  Every few months I visit my family and pick-up/return a batch of coins.  This round, I took 173 nickel rolls and 9 mostly complete Whitman nickel books: 5 Buff & 4 Jeff.  The rolls are primarily Jefferson from 38-60’s and only 6 rolls were labeled Buffalo.  65 rolls aren’t clearly marked which means I will probably get a variety of 3-4 generations of nickels.  I started with digging into the Whitman Buffalo books.  None of the books had high quality examples, but a complete Buffalo run was made so that was kinda cool.  Unfortunately, overall condition was only in the G-VG range.  I then made my way through the Buffalo rolls and begin to tackle the unmarked rolls.  One particular roll caught my eye because of its' label: "Odd Nickels.”  Curiosity abound, I jumped right in and found. . . funny enough. . . odd nickels.  There are: 4 Cracked Jeff’s, 2 counter-stamps, a few other quirky campers.  Below are just a few nuggets of numismatic nuttiness encompassing 111 years.

This 58p has some strange marks under the chin, like 2 stitched cuts (magnified pic below)

The 58 is just damage but it is a large star. 57 + 58  have a large star near the date

The 48 is a lamination error, same with the 47-S which has a partial retained lamination, both are nice finds.
