powermad5000 Posted March 5 Share Posted March 5 Hello and welcome to the forum! Your quarter is severely damaged and shows plenty of circulation wear. None of this is a mint error. Being you are more on the amateur side of the hobby as you stated, keep learning about coins in the general sense (types, grades, etc.). Errors are a whole different niche in the hobby and it takes a lot of learning about the mint process and striking of coins to start to be able to identify errors. As a side note, since the Mint moved to the single squeeze hubbing process somewhere in the late 90's/early 2000's, mint errors on modern coins have dropped dramatically and finding one in circulation is very unlikely. As for coins older than that, I can assure you any mint errors out in the wild have already been found and removed from circulation. Try to find coins in exceptional shape. Just the gouge on the edge to the right of Washington's head that left almost a perfect semi circle inside the rim caught my eye and seemed odd.
