1991 P Quarter errors or just damage?

Amateur collector for awhile now. Just got this in some change and I am unable to tell whether these gouges in it are damage from wear and tear or possibly mint errors. Thanks for any help!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Your quarter is severely damaged and shows plenty of circulation wear. None of this is a mint error.

Being you are more on the amateur side of the hobby as you stated, keep learning about coins in the general sense (types, grades, etc.). Errors are a whole different niche in the hobby and it takes a lot of learning about the mint process and striking of coins to start to be able to identify errors.

As a side note, since the Mint moved to the single squeeze hubbing process somewhere in the late 90's/early 2000's, mint errors on modern coins have dropped dramatically and finding one in circulation is very unlikely. As for coins older than that, I can assure you any mint errors out in the wild have already been found and removed from circulation.

Try to find coins in exceptional shape. That is where the fun in collecting comes from.

If you find it in circulation, the probability that it’s an error is about .0000001.

The probability it’s just damage is .9999999.

I had figured most of it was damage post minting. Just the gouge on the edge to the right of Washington's head that left almost a perfect semi circle inside the rim caught my eye and seemed odd. But just thought I'd try and get another opinion on it. Thank you for all the replies, much appreciated for your input.

Look for coins in better shape.  Even if there was an error it wouldn't command much of a premium at all due to the poor condition.

I also had some old coins; can I ask a question? Thank you so much for the help. One more thing: I have solved the problem of writing my college paper. The website that solved my problem is https://academized.com/write-my-college-papers this: They are a writing service provider. I love them because they have done the best work I can imagine for that price. If you also want help, you can visit them.

Of course you can ask a question, that is what is forum is about.

Just make sure you post a complete clear photo of both sides along with your
question. Start a new thread for each coin. ( one coin per thread).
