A different kind of Wheat Thin
1 1

Found this frail wheat thin amongst the rubble.  It is absurdly and unevenly thin.  I don't know what acid does to a coin, but I thought it evenly dissolves a coin.  Any ideas?

It is not just acid that can do that to a copper coin. One buried in soil for a very long period of time can exhibit that characteristic as well. Soil does have its own acidity/base component as well as the presence of nearly constant moisture. Coins either severely corroded or having taken an acid bath will reduce in thickness and weight as either the environment or the acid takes its toll on the metal.
