Hi group,

I found this while roll hunting. At first glance I thought someone though it may be funny to smash an eyelet onto a coin. Upon closer examination under microscope I noticed that Jefferson's monument image actually comes through the, whatever it is. I also noticed there is also light depressions on the NE and W side of the monument. Just under MONTECELLO there seems to be some kind of crack running east to west.

I tried to get different angles of the coin.

Very unusual! Especially the bubble on Monticello and what looks like a die crack. The only thing I can speculate is someone put this in a press of some sort which squeezed metal all over. I don’t believe this is any kind of mint damage but PMD. A keeper of interest though
