Abdulah
It's a shame that the LINCOLN CENT 1909 RD VDB obverse has scratches, what do the numismatic experts think on this forum? Is the scratch really from an initial strike error?
J P M
It is not from a strike error just a scratch. Abdulah
JKK
The scratches look pretty faint in that picture. Photos can be misleading, though. Abdulah
robec1347
Looks more BN than RD. The scratches are are after it left the mint, not a minting error. Sandon

The 1909 VDB Lincoln cent in the photo has no such color and would be designated "BN". The coin has About Uncirculated details. The obverse scratches may or may not be severe enough for a grading service to regard it as impaired.

Abdulah
In fact, it's actually red RD, not brown BN, but because of the lack of lighting and the effect of reflections around it, it looks like it's dark, it looks like BN
