1969s penny... grade or don't grade
1 1

Hello my fellow numismatics,

I know this isn't the infamous ddo 69s but I'd like to get some opinions here. I'd like to sell this pretty penny but I gotta get it graded.

My question is what would you do?

Thx.

Like all your other coins this coin has no collector value, unlike the other coins you have posted this coin has a slight value over the face value of one cent due to the copper content.   Some dealers will pay up to three cents each for Lincoln cents minted before the composition was changed in 1982 to the zinc core copper plating in use today.

No, a circulated 1969-S Lincoln cent--or virtually any other coin you found in circulation--isn't worth submitting to a third-party grading service, which is what I assume you incorrectly mean by "getting it graded." If you want to collect this coin, which is worth at most a few cents, it should, indeed, be graded and otherwise evaluated by you, once you have the necessary knowledge and skills. Do you have a print grading guide or at least refer to PCGS Photograde online, https://www.pcgs.com/photograde

Respectfully, unless you have the knowledge and experience to grade and value coins yourself, and also understand the substantial cost of having coins third-party graded, submitting coins to a third-party grading service is the last thing you should be thinking about.  A coin should be worth at least several hundred dollars before it is even arguably worth submitting, and if you cannot determine that value for yourself, you would likely just waste your money.

You stated you know the coin is not the 1969 S DDO. What is in your photo is some form of mechanical doubling on the motto. I am only wondering why if in your own grading opinion you knew it is not the valuable variety for this year and mintmark, why you would even consider having it graded by a TPG? I will put the coin from NGC's VarietyPLus page of what the coins condition and appearance should look like (even sans the DDO) before you should even consider sending a modern in for grading.
