uae.numis
Does NGC guarantee the coins submitted for re-grading to not receive a lower grade ? I remember reading the clause about the guarantee on NGC website under the description of ReGrade service but it seems like that was removed. Can anyone clarify? Administrator KaileeS CS Posted May 14, 2023 Administrator Share Posted May 14, 2023 Hello @uae.numis, thank you for contacting us. I think you may be referring to the clause in our guarantee that reads: Subject to the terms, conditions, and limitations specified below, an NGC-certified coin, token, or medal (collectively, a “Coin”) encapsulated in an NGC holder is guaranteed to be: Genuine (except for NGC Ancients-graded Coins, for the reasons explained here); and Not overgraded (meaning that they are not graded higher than NGC’s Grading Standards) This information may kindly be found HERE. To answer your question, it is possible for your coin's grade to be lowered when you send it back in for a regraded, depending on what the graders find when the coin is being re-evaluated. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you!
uae.numis
Dear Kailee, Thanks for the reply. Actually the clause I’m referring to explicitly states that a grade can’t be lowered when a coin is submitted for regrade. On NGC UK website, it’s still there https://www.ngccoin.uk/submit/services-fees/ngc/
Administrator KaileeS CS Posted May 15, 2023 Administrator Share Posted May 15, 2023 Hi @uae.numis, currently, that is not a clause that is listed on the US Location's website: Please kindly note that laws may vary by country, so there may be slight differences in which submission center you submit your collectibles through. The screenshot you posted above is true for the London, UK office submission center. Please let us know if you need help with anything else.
