Struck thru cloth? 2011-D Glacier Park Quarter

Here’s an interesting find. Both sides look like they were struck thru cloth. A lot of the details have wisps coming off them, look like flames. Date is illegible. Thoughts?

I would say it is highly unlikely that this was struck through cloth on both sides. Looks more like it was chemically treated with acid which has eaten the metal away.

I have to agree with Lem it has been exposed to some kind of chemical . LoL it does look like the devices are on fire ...:roflmao:

I thought about acid because one of my first posts here was about an 1859 Indian Head, which I thought might have been struck on a dime planchet. I was corrected then about acid. The quarter weighs 5.6 gms and it measures 24mm. The edges are perfect and untouched. The “flame” look around almost all of the details are raised as if the device started to melt and run. Here are a few more pics. The first is the back of the mountain goat and the last is the edge. Thx!

Acid or strong alkali on the surfaces. If struck through on a piece of cloth, the edge would be affected too, and the faces would have the weave showing.
