I like it when I can find a 60s coin in MS66 most are poor strikes or bag marked to death. Sure , I originally started out collecting the War Nickels but soon found that I may want to continue with the full set in MS 64 they were very reasonable in price for someone who is on a budget. Then after a while I thought I may want to go for 65FS coins for a few cents more 64s were not that great looking.. Then I found that 66 was my best all around coin to look for. MS66 are nice looking and quite a lot of them in FS and if I am careful and shop around I can get them for a good price. There are some years you can't find 66FS coins without spending a arm and a leg for. With those I just get the best I can find and hope there will be a deal down the road. I have 3 and a half tubes of raw nickels I haven't looked through if you're interested in any of them let me know the dates to look for. There's only one graded one, 1938 D MS 65 NGC gold toned. Thanks for the offer Liam. I do have some nice raw coins but nowadays I look for graded coins when building a set. That way it will be easier for my clan of 4 girls ,10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren to get rid of the stuff they don't want to keep. For that coin I don’t think I can be too picky. Full steps are not a deal breaker for this one. It is just one of those hard to find coins for me. I think the hunt is the best part of collecting and filling that slot will be very gratifying when the right one comes along. I agree the hunt is a good part of the enjoyment of collecting. I am down to plugging holes with about a dozen missing coins for a complete set I am working on, and it is very satisfying when you finally find one you are searching for at a reasonable price and are able to get it.
