James Zyskowski
That’s the only one I’ve seen like that. Cool effect. Such a great hobby. 😉🙀🦫
Greenstang
Caused by an overpolished die. Notice weakness in other areas as well. There would be many more the same out there so doubt if there would be much of a premium as it is neither a variety or an error. JT2

J P M
It is not worth anything but the fact that you found it . Nice find Shawn
The Neophyte Numismatist
First one I have ever seen. Very cool. Not going to buy the farm, but a fun find. @Greenstang couldn't it be considered an "error" of sorts? The 1937-D three-legged buffalo nickel was created by over polishing also. That is considered an error, right? What would be the difference? Edited April 17, 2022 by The Neophyte Numismatist
Greenstang
The three leg Buffalo is not an error although some may call it that as a marketing ploy. Overpolishing is intentionally done with the die outside of the striking chamber so it could not happen during the striking of the coin which is the only time an error can occur. Some call it a Die event. Edited April 17, 2022 by Greenstang
