Really nice in hand, a friend in France picked it up for me, I'm thinking AU and maybe it has been cleaned. What do we all think on the grade? Would it get a details? Worth slabbing?

I would just put it in a non pvc flip or capsule and enjoy it.

Details for just the rim damage alone, I would not consider this coin a good candidate for slabbing.

I'm with Coinbuf.  While it is a nice coin, that rim damage is going to result in a Details grade for sure.  I'd say that coin would be excellent for a nice album collection.  Not every coin needs to be slabbed.

Closer image of the rim hit. Not as bad as it looks in the original photos but yeah that alone might make it details.

The hairlines indicate a vigorous cleaning, and the rim hits look too severe to slab, as well. I do like the design, though. Very classic looking. If you could find a way for the coin to obtain a little natural patina, I think it would help the look a bit.

One thing that could help with acquiring a little natural patina would be to try to find some paper coin envelopes, the older, the better.  Those have helped me in the past when I've had a coin that needed a little appearance help.  It takes a while, but those envelopes will often impart some nice, subtle and natural toning to coins stored in them.

Dings and such aside it is a very nice coin.
