Paploo
In the list of varieties of the 1970 Equatorial Guinea 75 peseta coins, there are two varieties that have entries, but no corresponding pictures so that a collector would know if they have a possible variety to submit. The two that I am referring to are: "1970 LENIN'S BIRTH” and “"1 AR" HALLMARK ABOVE "E””. The latter one could apply to both the Lenin and Pope John XXIII commemoratives I have, since they show up on both. Would your specialists please clarify this? If there are a few more varieties out there for me to complete the set, I would like to be aware of them. Thank you very much for your help. gmarguli
The Lenin coin has two varieties, KM-9.1 (fineness stamp below right trunk) and KM-9.2 (fineness stamp to the left of the left trunk). The Pope coin comes with the same placement of the fineness stamps as the Lenin coin, but they aren't listed in the Krause catalogs. The "1 AR above E in Pesetas" variety is referring to the Abraham Lincoln coin when the fineness stamp comes either at the left of the left trunk or above the ET in Pesetas. 7.jaguars
There are however coins with the "1 AR" stamp that are not in the catalogue and so it is I would not automatically dismiss a coin as wrongly attributed should it come up. The Dahomey 1971 silver proof coins come to mind & also with the fineness varieties and locations with the 1 AR.....
