Brad206
I've learned from an article here on NGC that die breaks are very common and I was also told by an auction house that this coin is only worth face value. However, I've run across a 1969 die break very similar to mine that sold in 2019. It had 8 bidders and sold for $86.77. My question, is this dime worth more than a dime? tj96
Oldhoopster
A bisecting die crack is a cool find does carry a premium. I haven't purchased errors in a while but a rough guess for yours is in the $15-30 range on ebay. Maybe more on a good day with the right bidders. That would put it in the "not worth slabbing" and "not interesting to auction houses" territory, but definitely a keeper The 69D may have gotten a bump due to the die collapse/subsidence. Yours is not listed in the RRDC (rim to rim die crack) section of Cuds on coins http://cuds-on-coins.com/rim-to-rim-die-cracks-on-u-s-coins-2/ Edit to add JP had his recent find listed on Cuds on coins Edited January 19, 2022 by Oldhoopster Hoghead515

You have a nice die crack there. I agree with Oldhoopster. Some people look for these. I guess it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Brad206
Circling back, it turns out this particular spike head is already listed. Now I know there are at least two of these in the world. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Hoghead515 and tj96
