do you know this one out of multipull ways to tell if a quarter is silver?

  1. 1. how do you know if a us quarter, dime, half dollar is silver

    • the sides or edges are copper and silver colored

1964 and earlier are silver. Half dollars are 40% silver from 1965-1970. Jefferson nickels between the years of 1942-1945 are 30% silver.

You can also buy high end coins or special sets that have 90% silver coins in them.

While the answer to this poll question is true, it is NOT definitive, it's just one indicator.  For example a plated clad coin could also have a solid silver colored edge but it would NOT be silver.
