1937 Walking Liberty Half Dollar for $1500

Jorge lives in Naples, FL - as I do as well.

First of all, he's obviously uneducated in

Numismatics. Secondly, the vast majority

of non collectors do not equate age and

value. All "old" coins are "solid silver" - so,

they must be valuable.

I looked at a neighbor's box of old "valuable"

silver - and at best it was bullion value. He was

beyond disappointed because all those solid

silver dollars from the mid 1880's have to be

worth hundreds of dollars. I forewarned him,

#1: I do not buy coins from friends and neighbor's.

#2: I only buy certified Barber coins from known resources.

I gave him valuations what he should expect to receive

from a reputable coin dealer in Naples ( Ben King of

American Rare Coins and Collectibles ).

The Numismatically Challanged people just don't have a clue.

It's not their fault. Either you are a collector or you are an observer.

Coins do not interest too many people anymore. It's not like in the

mid 1960's when almost every boy collected - and there were two

or three coin stores in every town. ( Just about, anyway ).
