I could have bought a tenth ounce Mercury on April 21st. NOT. I guess they sold out in an hour. But somehow companies like Modern Coin Mart bought them. So now I can get one for 339.00. Oh wait I thought they would be under 200.00 from the mint. I guess I'm mixed up.

So I would have been limited to 10 but wholesalers could probably purchase 10 for every employee and family member working there likely cornering the market in less than one hour. I guess I've seen it before. And I consider myself lucky to purchase reverse proof silver Eagles direct couple years ago.

I have seen many on EBay for less than your $339 figure.

What Mark said...

There are more than 300 current listings on eBay, many for less than your $339 amount.

Have a little patience and I suspect you will be able to buy one for less than the examples used in this thread.

Actually, the PCGS plastic and little label stating "MS 70" sold for $300, and the coin inside sold for $260.

I realize that it is a competitive world we live in. But I feel like I'm being out bid in an auction by speculators. Last Heritage auction I was following, some proof cents on my watch list ended up being offered by owner. In other words I could have been outbid by someone who just buys these coins to resell. Boy was I dumb. I think I will stick with dealer specialists where I pay top dollar but don't risk ending up with junk.
