Is this worn Barber Dime a Proof?

6 posts in this topic

I only have a couple other just good barber dimes, but this one has always stood out to me. It has reflective fields that the other two definitely do not have. I tried to capture it best I could. Maybe its just a whizzed dime? I'm not seeing any hairlines or polishing/whizzing lines on it. What say you my friends? Thanks!!

I don't think so. The rims don't look like a Proof to me, and if a Proof coin had that much wear on the main devices, the fields won't be that reflective, if they had not been polished.

Here is certified Proof with which you can compare it.

Thanks guys. Probably an old polish job. I've had it in a 2x2 for a few yrs. With a couple other old worn ones. This ones fields just looked very different from the others. Thanks again!
