Type set question

When you are building your type set, do you include coins residing in your other sets, or do you have a completely different coin in both sets example for your Lincoln spot in our type set, would you purchase a 2nd of something or just double up 1 coin?

I use coins that are in other sets as well.

Almost all of my coins "do double duty." I try to avoid tying up money on duplicates unless there is good reason for it. For example I have a raw set of Indian quarters eagles in a Capital Plastics holder. The set is very attractive as such, and the coin in my type set is much nicer than any of those pieces. Therefore I have two 1925-D quarter eagles.

Same, it will take me years...maybe decades to complete the type set let alone find duplicates for other sets.

I only had one duplicate - my 1949S Franklin served double duty in my Franklin and my PL set. When I sold the Franklins, I kept that one and now its just in my PL set.
