It is wise to learn the tastes of those in power

If nothing else it tells you what will be left for you.

It is also wise to ask why someone finds beauty

when you do not; it does not

necessarily change your mind but if you believe

there is only one perspective you do not understand reality.

It means to pick your battles, know who has a dog in the fight, and why he is in the fight. You are always going to lose if deep pockets likes the same things you do.

Not all big money guys have a good eye. Just because it is expensive---this doesn't automatically make it a good thing to own. Learn your series and you will do just as well.

I agree more with the second part----sometimes you can learn about different styles and preferences and, sometimes, it will even rub off and you may acquire this taste for yourself. There is no WRONG way to collect---just collect what you like.

Oh there is a WRONG way to collect. You can go to the flea markets and buy a bunch of Chinese counterfeits at "bargain" prices. The trouble is you don't even get silver is worth the melt value. All you have is lot of toned steel and other base metals.

Buying from the barkers on TV is another mistake. Loading up on gold and platinum plated State Quarters has not proven to be a very good investment.
