Opinions on this 16-D please

I have a 1928 that is almost an exact duplicate of your 1916-D. It is graded MS64BN, but could just as easily be a 65BN.

I love the look.

Nice coin. Hardly any wear on it and some discoloration. I agree with others that it is close to ms-63-65 range.

Hardly any wear would warrant an AU58 at best.

I am sure there is no wear.

I bet that is one great looking 28.

I agree with jerseycat, from the pics I would say solid 65 assuming the coin has strong luster. Just wondering if anyone could find a good reason for possible 64.

Like I said it is very, very similar to the 1916-D.

Jim,

That's a great looking wheatie. I don't see any "funny business" anywhere. The luster looks strong, the strike is absolutely hammered, and the only place I see even possible slight (trivial) tick marks is on the back (left) of Lincoln's jacket shoulder. The coin looks MS65BN all day long to me.

Great eye appeal

Great color

Great luster

HAMMERED strike

.

I'm not seeing any negatives here. (thumbs u

The coin is lustrous, has very clean fields, and an exceptionally strong strike. The coin is definitely a gem example, and I am leaning towards MS65 BN for the grade.

Great strike on the coin. Clean fields. Like the color. I would grade it 65-66. I'd lean towards BN though.

The nick on the shoulder keeps it from a 66.
