considering you can see part of the c stamped in it Id vote against post mint damage....yet i couldnt explain what happend

Could the first be an extreme example of a lamination error? The 55' looks to just be a worn die with the thicker date numbers. Not really seeing doubling. Just my guess.

Not a doubled die 55 (if that was the question). I would agree with Bobby that it looks like a lamination error to me.

common coin and nicknamed poor mans doubled die and promoted for years in coin world 1970's to 1990's

 

last 5 in 1955 is slightly doubled

 

i think they sold for 5-7 dollars each back then

 

today a coin worth a couple of bucks from a retail boutique giftlike coin store

Ok....the hunt continues!! I am going to find the 55 one of these days and when I do I'll put a picture up! I appreciate the inputs.
