Please grade this 1944 Liberty Walking Half Dollar

64/65? I don't like the area of the skirt above the date and the branch hand. Both areas almost come across in the pictures as the slightest bit of wear, but I'm guessing UNC and it's an anomaly of the photography. (shrug)

I like it at 65. In hand, if the luster is really killer, I could see 66.

That is assuming the discoloration on her left breast and the eagles breast are not due to wear - in which case it would grade AU-58.

The thing about some World War II era coins, especially Mercury dimes and Walking Liberty half dollars is that they sometimes have some odd die polishing. Part of the reason for this is the many of the experienced mint employees were off fighting the war and some "not quite ready for primetime players" were taking their place. I think that that the area cited is some of that quirky die polishing.
